He had been ill one week and hospitalized since October 18. Ranney was a retired employee of Cooper Industrial Products, Auburn, where he worked for 13 years. A native of Auburn, Ranney was born November 20, 1911, to James E. and Mary (Thompson) Ranney. He married Vera Haywood on March 17, 1943. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Ronald Ranney, of Texas, and James Ranney, of Ashley; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Christie) Helman, of Garrett; one stepson, David Porter, of Butler; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dale (Ruth Ann) Weilbaker, of Auburn; one brother, Lloyd Ranney, Auburn; a sister, Ismay Sands, of Texas; and 14 grandchildren. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 27, in the Bale Funeral Home, Auburn, with Reverend Darold Beck, pastor of the Angola Assembly of God, officiating.
