Obit | Frank's obituary was published in the Journal Review on 13 May 1983: Frank Sabens, 83, of 413 Green Acres Drive died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in Community Hospital at Indianapolis. A lifelong farmer in Montgomery County, he was a 50 year member of the Farm Bureau. He was educated at Browns Valley and Waveland and was a member of the Mace United Methodist Church. Mr. Sabens was born May 17, 1899 at Glasgow, Ky., a son of James and Cordia Curtis Sabens. He married Louise Miller Feb. 6 1924 in the home of the Rev. F.G. Howard here. She survives. Other survivors are a son, Dr. James A. Sabens of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Lois Phillips of Akron, Ohio; four brothers, Roy of New Market, Ray of Linden and William and James of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mary Sabens of Crawfordsville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Hunt and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Wooden officiating. Burial will be in Mace Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30-7 p.m. Friday.11 |

Mr. Sabens was a retired farmer. He had farmed in the Mace, Linden and New Market communities. He was a member of New Market United Methodist Church. He was a 1922 graduate of Mace Hill School. He was born Feb. 2, 1903 in Missouri to James F. and Cordia Curtis Sabens. He married Elizabeth M. Martin on Oct. 19, 1923, at Lafayette. She died in 1990. Surviving are a son, Dale of Lafayette; three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Ellen) Faust of Linden, Mrs. Loren (Ann) Lanum of Crawfordsville and Mrs. John (Martha) Kitsmiller of Memphis, Tenn; a brother, James of Crawfordsville; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. Three brothers, two sisters and a great-grandchild preceded him in death. Private funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday in Powers-Priebe Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Zetterburg officiating. Burial will be in Mace Community Cemetery. There will be public visitation 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.7 |

Mr. Sabens was born in Missouri on Oct. 3, 1907, to James F. and Cordia Curtis Sabens. He was married at Portland on Jan. 12, 1933, to Elsie P. Flauding, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Joan) Weaver of Drummond, Mont., Mrs. William (Jane) Whiteley of Linden and Mrs. Ray (Mary Lou) Hill of Muncie; three brothers, Roy C., William and James of Crawfordsville; a sister Mary Sabens of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Private services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Hahn Funeral Home with the Rev. David Sterling officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-9 p.m. Monday.5 |

Obit | Junior Curtis (JC)'s obituary was published in the Lebanon Reporter on 13 May 2006: Junior Curtis (JC) Emmett, 80, of Chambersburg, Pa., formerly of Lebanon, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at the Veterans Hospital in Martinsburg, W. Va. Born Nov. 25, 1925, in Frankfort, he was the son of the late Luther and Neva Emmett. In September 1976 he married Marybelle Dale Emmett, who preceded him in death. Emmett graduated Frankfort High School in 1944. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired from Allison General Motors after 35 years. He was Service Officer of Veterans Affairs in Boone County until his retirement to Florida. He also lived in Mississippi before moving to Chambersburg. Memberships include American Legion, Murat Temple in Indianapolis, and the 38th Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans, where he was past commander. Survivors include nieces Cindy Emmett of Olive Branch, Miss., Cathy Goodnight, Diana Swinney and her husband, Roger, and Chris Brown and her husband, Lee, all of Lebanon, and Peggy Taylor of Frankfort; nephew Gene Crabtree of Illinois; sisters-in-law Jean Caldwell and Margaret Harrison and her husband, Bob, of Lebanon. Also preceding him in death were sister Irene and brother Jewell. He was blessed by a special friendship with Gerald and Eva Fox of Chambersburg. Visitation is 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Powell Chapel at Oak Hill Cemetery. Services are Tuesday at the chapel. Burial with military rites is at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon.4 |

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Veach; a brother, Curtis Gentry; and a sister, Edna Gentry. Funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Strode Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Fountain Run Old Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Michael Veach and his wife, Linda, of Bowling Green; four daughters, Louise Veach and her husband, Eldon, of Fountain Run, Elizabeth “Libby” Proffitt and her husband, Delmas, and Sue Emberton and her husband, Ed Mack, all of Glasgow, and Kaye Taylor of Tompkinsville; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.6 |
