Their last years together were spent near Browns and in Bone Gap, Illinois. For a long time, Jesse and June lived in Mason, Ingham Co., Michigan where Jesse was an electrician. He helped put up miles and miles of electric lines. The road going to the Ingham County Jail was named after Jesse (Curtis Road) because years ago it was only a one lane beaten trail which only Jesse ever went down. He traveled the route to check the water tower in Mason. Both are buried in the Bone Gap cemetery, Illinois.¹⁰
