Margaret F. Wagener, 80, Marion, passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at her residence. She was born in Danville, Illinois, and was the daughter of the late William and Nellie (Knox) Boen. On May 16, 1958, Margaret married Robert Wagener, and they shared 53 years of matrimony together until he preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 2011.

Margaret was a graduate of Marion High School, and she worked as a housekeeper for Marion General Hospital for 17 years prior to her retirement. Her home church was Hillside Wesleyan, where she held her membership.

Margaret loved her grandchildren and would do anything for her family. She was very involved with her grandkids and enjoyed attending their sporting activities. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, watching wrestling on television, and shopping with her daughter. Margaret was also an avid Indianapolis Colts, Pacers, and Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include her children, Nancy (Steve) Thibeault, Marion, Jeff (Donna) Wagener, Swayzee, Mike (Peggy) Wagener, Marion, Tom (Jeannie) Wagener, Lafayette, and Dan (Cheryl) Wagener, Gas City; seven grandchildren, Josh (fiancé, Lendsey Fields) Wagener, Brandon Wagener, Matt Wagener, Allison (Justin) Logan, Jessica Wagener, Jared Wagener, and Kailey Wagener; sisters-in-law, Darlene Boen, Rebecca Nevel, and Judy Rowe; very close friend, Sue Artherhults; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.

Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, with Pastor Gary Bingham officiating. Burial will follow in Marion National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hillside Wesleyan Church, 2510 S. Home Ave., Marion.1
