Obit | Gracie Agnes's obituary was published in the La Plata Home Press on 23 December 1965: Mrs. Gracie Curtis, 62, of South Gifford, died Tuesday morning at 7:40 in a Kirksville hospital. Mrs. Curtis had been a patient there since early Saturday afternoon having suffered burns over 60-70 percent of her body. Mrs. Curtis was born July 14, 1903 in Macon County and was married to Earl Curtis on November 21, 1935 who survives. Also surviving are three brothers, John Lene of La Plata, Andy and Paul Lene of Elmer and one sister, Mrs. Hazel Hiles of Elmer. Jack Lene of La Plata and Tom Lene of Texas were half brothers. Mrs. Curtis was a member of the South Gifford Christian church where the services were conducted yesterday (Wednesday) by Rev. Clyde McCollum. Burial in Indian Hill Cemetery north of Gifford.1 |
