Nielson passed Friday evening, March 4, 2005, at San Juan Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born July 26, 1916, in Pioche, Nev., to Ernst Nielson and Daisy Alexander.He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Glade and Letha Nay (Candy) Curtis were then married Dec. 17, 1949.He worked in the oil field for many years in the Rocky Mountain region, and retired from San Juan Spring Company. A long-time bowler, Glade enjoyed golf, racquetball and the Denver Broncos. He also loved playing cards and dominoes, and shooting pool with his family and friends.
Glade is survived by his wife, Candy, and two sons, Gary and Rick. Grandchildren include Thorin, Stephanie, Morgana and Erin, as well as two great-granddaughters. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 8, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary, Rick and Thorin Nielson, Ralph Trotter, Maynard Ekholm and Frosty Sweetland. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the medical floor staff at San Juan Regional Medical Center and Dr. Charles Hoffman for their compassionate care and support. Glade is in the care of Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home.2 |

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Amarillo with The Right Rev. Sam B. Hulsey of Fort Worth and the Rev. Robert Pace, rector, officiating. Inurnment will follow at 3 p.m. in St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Pampa with the Rev. Mark Lang, rector, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Phyllis was born Aug. 11, 1931, in Pampa to Fritz Earle Scheig and Alice Rittenhouse Scheig. Before moving to Amarillo in 1998, she was a lifelong resident of Pampa, where she married Jackie Tom Curtis on April 15, 1950. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1995.
Phyllis was a loving and dedicated mother, sister, friend, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a masterful and generous cook. She was an active and community oriented member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Amarillo and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Pampa. She was also a member of Daughter of the Kings, Blackbelt Bible Study and Tuesday Bible Study, all at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. For many years, she volunteered for Pampa Shelter Workshop in Pampa and was a member of Junior Service League. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Scheig, in 1993.Survivors include two daughters, Terry Wilemon of Lakeway and Ellen Brister and husband Mike of Amarillo; two sons, Joe Curtis and wife Gayle of Pampa and Jack T. Curtis Jr. and wife Sissy of Horseshoe Bay; a brother, Edward Scheig and wife Glenda of Houston; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.2 |
