Stephen Nation and Dr. Ark Noel officiating. Interment followed at Rosedale Cemetery. Born Oct. 18, 1913, at Telephone, Texas, to Henry Monroe Curtis Sr. and Willie Graham Curtis, he died Dec. 27, 2000, at a Healdton nursing facility. He married Johnie Larene Hamilton Dec. 14, 1940. She preceded him in death March 24, 1994. Curtis attended school at Lamasco, Texas, and then attended Southern Nazarene University, formerly known as Bethany Peniel College. He came to the area in 1979 from Poteau after retiring as a minister. He had pastored the following churches: Ada Nazarene, Poteau Church of the Nazarene, Tulsa Southwest Church of the Nazarene, Oklahoma City Meridian Park Church of the Nazarene, Watonga Church of the Nazarene, Ponca City First Church of the Nazarene and Henryetta Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Dilling, Healdton; three sons, Lyle W. Curtis, Hoopeston, Ill., Kenneth R. Curtis, Santee, Calif., and Charles M. Curtis, Port Isabel, Texas; one sister, Nell Namey, Farrell, Pa; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Bearers were Lyle Curtis, Kenneth Curtis, Charles Curtis, Chip Dilling, Tim Curtis, Kent Kunzler and Rod Dilling. Services were under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.6 |
