Curtis, who died in Tennessee, recently from injuries received at Johnson City were brought back. We copy the following from a Tennessee newspaper: No greater tribute to his many good qualities could have been offered than the tears of strong-hearted men who surrounded him when he died and the hundreds who called to look upon his dead face. Yesterdays dozens of his brother engineers called at the undertaker’s and solemnly looked upon all that is mortal of the once popular young man. A large party accompanied the remains on the last sad journey to the grave. Among them were W.R. Hodge, C.O. Fraley, Dave Thomas and John Flora, engineers, and J.D. Curtis, a nephew of the deceased. The father of the deceased is living, but his mother, whom he loved very dearly, died last spring.3 |
