Obit | Adolphus F.'s obituary was published in the Chronicle on 6 May 1934: The Rev. A.F. Nunn, prominent retired Methodist minister, died at a local infirmary last night at 9:25 o’clock, following an illness of nine days. Mr. Nunn was a graduate of the Piedmont Institute. He jointed the North Georgia conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1883 [93?] and has remained in the conference for the past 40 years, 30 of which was in active service. Since his retirement, he has made his home in Thomson. He served as pastor of St. Luke Methodist church here for four years, 1916 to 1919 inclusive, coming to Augusta from Hephzibah. He has also served charges in Athens, Atlanta, Bremen and Cartersville. November 12, 1894, he was married to Miss Mary Belle Curtis, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. J. T. Curtis, old Augusta residents, which union was blessed by three children, two of whom survive. Loved ones left to mourn his loss are his widow, Mrs. Mary B.C. Nunn, Thomson; one son, Joe Curtis Nunn, Miami, Fla; one daughter Mrs. R. Allen Elli8ott, Augusta; two sisters, Mrs. E.C. Clements and Mrs. Rose Black, both of Cedartown; one brother, Tom Lee Nunn, Cedartown; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The remains will lie in state at Elliott and Sons funeral home until this afternoon at 5 o’clock, at which time they will be taken to his late residence in Thomson. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock from the Thomson Methodist church, the Rev. H.L. Byrd, the Rev. W.A. Tyson and the Rev. G.C. Burtz officiating, and interment will be in the West View cemetery, Thomson.9 |
