Birth*William Marion Allen was born on 17 September 1817 at Rutherford, North Carolina.1,2,3
Marriage*He married Martha M. Carson on 29 January 1839 at Macon, North Carolina.1
Death*William Marion Allen died on 14 November 1891 at North Carolina at age 74; buried at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery in Macon County.3
ObitWilliam Marion's obituary was published in the Franklin Press on 14 September 1892:
WILLIAM M. ALLEN, son of David Allen, was born in Rutherford County, September 17, 1817 and moved to Macon County in the early part of his life where he became acquainted with Martha M. Carson, whom he selected to be an equal sharer in all the enjoyments and sorrows of life. He made the choice of farming for a livelihood which business engaged his time and ability to the extent of charterizing him as one of the leading and most successful farmers in the county. When well advanced in years he was influenced by the preaching of Rev. George Maiden to accept Christ as his Savior by joining the Methodist Church since which time his faithfulness was evinced by his orderly walk and more pious conversation. He procured a comfortable living and contributed liberally to the support of benevolent objects. He had been badly diseased for several years, and for the last 2 or 3 years he was a great sufferer with lung afflictions. But in all of his afflictions he was patient, calm and resigned and only a few hours before his death said he was ready anytime for the change to come and on November 14, 1891, fell asleep in his 75th year.
