She had been sick about two weeks with typhoid fever, and her death was not wholly unexpected. The deceased was in her ___ year, the daughter of Joshua and Tabitha [sic] Curtis, and a consistent member of the M.E. Church South from childhood. She was a frequent attender of the Friends Church at Friendsville, a member of the Sabbath School, the C.E. Society and the WCTU, and was ever ready for her part in any movement for the general good. Her frequent testimony in song, prayer, and praise to a warm Christian experience was fully supported by her upright walk in daily life. In her death, the church loses a faithful member, and the community a warm friend. She was laid to rest at Miser Station beside her parents, and the funeral was held by her pastor, Rev. W.E. Lowery.5 |
