Last rites for DeKalb County native Dorothy Star Spence, 68, of Antioch, were held November 1 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Elmer Ellis, Jr. officiated and burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery. She died October 30 at Southern Hills Hospital and was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lillie Davis Curtis. She was a retired grocery clerk and a member of the Antioch First Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters: Wanda Cripps of Mt. Juliet and Pat Marshall of Antioch; two sisters Mattie Morton and Helen Curtis of Nashville; a brother, Don Curtis of Nashville; three granddaughters: Angela Royalty and Amy Raymond of Antioch and Rosie Pollard of Mt. Juliet; two great grandchildren: Kendall Verdugo and Savannah Pollard; and a number of nieces and nephews. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown was in charge of arrangements.
