She was an active stockholder of The Evansville Courier and regularly attended the shareholders' meetings. "She was very proud to be associated wit the newspaper," said he nephew, David Sursa of Muncie, Ind. Also surviving is a niece, Jamie Lou Mueller of Indianapolis.5 |

Obit | Katharine's obituary was published in the Courier and Press on 28 August 2011: Katherine Seibert, 104, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011, at the Terrace at Solarbron. She was born in Posey County, Ind., on August 20, 1907, to George and Grace (Curtis) Henderson. Katherine was a 1926 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She graduated in 1951 from Evansville College and attended Indiana University for two years. Katherine started out in a one room school in Point Township in 1927 and retired in 1969 as a Math and Social Studies Teacher at Mt. Vernon Jr. High. She was a member of the Honorary Teachers Organization and had belonged to the Ramblers for over 55 years. Katherine was also a member of the Local, State and National Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for 50 years and was a longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Seibert in 1996; brother, George Henderson; and her sister, Lillian Wilson. Katherine is survived by her nieces, Doris Freeman of St. Louis, Mo., Shelba (Bruce) Woodring of Henderson, Ky., their children, Stephanie (Larry) Williams of Treasure Island, Fla., and Rob (Angie) Woodring of Henderson, Ky; nephews, George Jr. (Ruth Ann) Henderson of Stafford, Va., their children, Todd (Joanna) Henderson of Italy, Tasha (Thorsen) Seyler of Winston Salem, N.C., and George Freeman of St. Louis, Mo; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Madison Williams, Emily Woodring, Ariana Henderson, Landon Woodring and Anja Seyler. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011, at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Daune Yegerlehner officiating. Burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.5 |
