Born Dec. 13, 1914, in Orleans, he was the son of William H. and Mable (Moffatt) Curtis. He married Barbara Greene on Oct. 21, 1939, and she survives. He was a self-employed carpenter until he was 75 years old. He was a graduate of Orleans High School with the Class of 1934, a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Bedford, and he was on the building committee of LARC Center, Bedford. He was an avid gardener, the vegetable and fruit market man, and he loved to go hunting in the woods. Many local people came to him for produce, including this year. He had a love of people and gardening.
Surviving with his wife, Barbara Curtis of Bedford; are four daughters, Rita Ann Ward of Cloverdale, Rhea Anita Sanderson of Bedford, Nancy Jo Schulenburg of Mitchell, and Mary Franklin and husband John of Bloomington; one brother, Noble Curtis of Greensburg, 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Curtis; one sister, Naomi Johnson; and one son, David Curtis. Funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Cresthaven Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Newman officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.6 |

She is survived by one brother, William Wires of Port Richey, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents. The body was cremated. Chastain Funeral Home, Mitchell, was in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation or service.1 |
