Field were married on December 4, 1921 in Close City, Tex. Tim and Dessie celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on December 4, 1981. Mr. Field died in 1982. They moved to Dalhart in 1945 from Southland, Tex. They farmed for many years in the Dalhart area. Dessie was instrumental in 4-H in Dallam County in the early years and active in starting the cafeteria program in the Dalhart public schools. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, worked with WMU and the Church Nursery. Dessie was honored as Old Timer of the Year in 1979. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lou Ritchey and Bonnie Sue Dooley, both of Dalhart; eight sons, Lewis, David Mack and Connie, all of Dalhart; Robert and James of Amarillo; Albert of Muleshoe, Tim Jr. of Guymon and Roy of Annapolis, MD; sisters, Velma Fletcher, Norma Marcy and Doris Fuller of Lubbock and Marian Covalt of Medina, Tex; 32 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. The Rev. Robert Field, "Bobby," was born July 22, 1929, in Southland to Tim and Dessie Field. He married Mary M. Taggart on Jan. 8, 1947, in Fort Sumner, N.M. Rev. Field pastored at Croton Baptist Church, Dickens First Baptist Church, Castle Hills Baptist Church, Immanuel Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, Manchaca Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Halfway, Palo Duro Baptist Church in Wildorado, Bolton Street Baptist Church and South Georgia Baptist Church. He served as interim pastor at many other churches.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Lewis, Albert, James, Tim and Foy. Survivors include his wife, Mary Field of the home; a daughter, Diane Shultz and husband D.H. of Buda; two sons, Ronnie Field and wife Carrollann of Winona and Clyde Field and wife Johnnie of Wolfforth; his grandchildren, Trey Shultz and wife DeAnne, Philip Shultz and wife Lori, Tim Field, Amanda Field, Landon Field and wife Joy and Brooke Gibson and husband Jamie; three brothers, Mack Field and wife Janice, Connie Field and wife Carol, all of Amarillo, and Roy Field of Annapolis; two sisters, Mary Lou Richey of Dalhart and Bonnie Dooley and husband Jack of Austin; two sisters-in-law, Frances Field of Dalhart and Jo Field of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews.5 |
