Obit | Rebecca's obituary was published in the Rochester Sentinel on 10 March 1914: Mrs. Rebecca FLYNN, wife of Lemuel FLYNN, died at her home on north Jefferson street Wednesday evening after a long sickness. Her death was directly due to pneumonia. She was 75 years old, being born May 10, 1839. She is the mother of five children, who with her husband, survive. Most of the children live in or near Rochester. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10 o’clock. The services will be in charge of the United Brethren minister. Interment will be made in Reichter cemetery. Wednesday, March 11, 1914. The funeral of Mrs. Lemuel FLYNN will be held at the residence of her daughter, 130 W. 2nd St., Thursday morning at 10:00. Interment in Reichter cemetery at Talma. Mr. and Mrs. H. GOOD and Carl MOORE of Marion are here to attend the funeral. Ray FLYNN of Kalamazoo, Mich., will arrive this evening. Thursday, March 12, 1914 Rebecca FLYNN was born in Zanesville, Ohio, May the 10th, 1839, and died March 9th, 1914, age 74 years, 9 months and 28 days. She moved with her parents to Fulton county in the year 1841. On Feb. 21st, 1851, she was united in marriage to L. P. FLYNN, who died March 15, 1909. To this union was born 12 children, five of whom are living, three sons, Frank [FLYNN], Leander [FLYNN] and Wilson [FLYNN]; two daughters, Mrs. Anderson MOORE of Rochester and Mrs. William GOOD of Marion, Ind. She leaves 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. There are three brothers, Richard [STARNER], George [STARNER] and Henderson STARNER. She was a member of the Christian church at Talma, Ind., but later her membership was transferred to the United Brethren church in this city. During the latter part of ner life her health did not permit her to attend a church, but she died in the Christian faith.9 |

Obit | Alfred Franklin (Frank)'s obituary was published in the Rochester Sentinel on 24 October 1945: Death came at 7:20 o’clock Tuesday evening to Alfred Franklin FLYNN, 74, at his home 130 East Fourth street, after an illness of a year during which he suffered from the effects of paralysis. Frank FLYNN, as he was known to many friends in the community, was born near Talma on Nov. 28, 1870, the son of Lemuel and Rebecca (STARNER) FLYNN. His entire life was spent in Fulton county, where he married Priscilla RIDDLE in this city on Sept. 3, 1904. Many years ago he became identified with the IOOF cemetery in this city, where he served as sexton for more than a quarter of a century, until forced to retire because of his health. Surviving are the widow; a son, Ray [FLYNN]; and adopted son, Harold [FLYNN]; a sister, Mrs. Mahalia GOOD, and two grandchildren, all of Rochester. Two daughters preceded him in death. Final rites will be held from the Zimmerman Bros. funeral home on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with the Rev. David LIVENGOOD, assisted by the Rev. Floyd PAXTON, officiating. Burial will be made in IOOF cemetery. The body will rest at the Zimmerman Bros. home until the funeral hour.1 |

He was born in Fulton County April 23, 1877 and lived in this community all of his life. He was the son of Lemuel and Rebecca FLYNN. Twenty years ago he married Miss Omma KOCHEL who survived him. He was a member of the United Brethren church. Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, Lemuel [FLYNN], Daniel [FLYNN], William [FLYNN] and David [FLYNN], two daughters, Leora [FLYNN] and Sylvia [FLYNN], two brothers, Frank [FLYNN] and Lee [FLYNN] of Rochester and one sister, Mrs. William GOOD of Marion. The deceased was born on February 27, 1859 in a log cabin along the Tippecanoe river, three miles northeast of Rochester, the son of Lemual and Rebecca FLYNN. On August 18, 1890 he was married to Mary LATCHAW. Mr. Flynn had lived his entire life in this community and for many years was employed on the railroad section. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Emma GOOD, Mrs. Ida LIGHTFOOT, Miss Rethal FLYNN, and one son, Leonard FLYNN all of Rochester; one brother, Frank FLYNN and a sister, Mrs. Mahala GOOD, of Rochester; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o’clock at the Zimmerman Bros funeral home with Rev. J. B. GLEASON in charge. Burial will be made in Citizens cemetery.3 |

B. Shore clothing store on north Main street. As in the case of the three brothers and sisters, Mr. Moore’s death was caused by heart trouble. He had just returned from a trip to a nearby store. Several weeks ago Mrs. John MOWE, a sister, died very suddenly at her home on Fourth street, and two years previous to that time, Mrs. George ICE, another sister, dropped dead. Several years ago, Charles MOORE, a brother, dropped dead at his home in this city. Anderson Moore leaves one son, Carl [MOORE], who has been living with him in his room, and one sister, Mrs. TUTTLE of near Mentone. Mrs. Moore died about three years ago. The funeral arrangements have not been made.3 |

Surviving are two sons, Ray and Harold FLYNN, both of Rochester, and also three grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Zimmerman Bros. funeral home where fritnds may call. The Rev. F. C. SAVAGE will officiate and burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery.3 |

Obit | Oma Lee Mabel's obituary was published in the Rochester Sentinel on 30 August 1948: Funeral services for Mrs. Oma Lee Mabel FLYNN, 63, Rochester resident who died Saturday evening in Woodlawn hospital, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. Robert WARD officiating. Burial will be in the Citizen’s cemetry. Mrs. Flynn had been ill one week. Born Aug. 20, 1885, she was a life resident of the county and was the daughter of Samuel and Ann COCHEL. She was married to Wilson FLYNN Sept. 15, 1903. He preceded her in death several years ago. Mrs. Flynn was a member of the St. Paul’s Evangelical United Brethren church. Survivors include four sons, William, James and David [FLYNN] of Rochester, and John[FLYNN] of Valparaiso; two daughters, Mrs. Sylvia HINES of Valparaiso and Mrs. Leona STAYTON of Rochester; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie MAYS of Missouri, Mrs. Ella LUND of Plymouth, and Mrs. Mary FRASER of Kewanna.1 |

Obit | Amanda (Remanda) C.'s obituary was published in the Rochester Sentinel on 11 May 1936: Mrs. Amanda [LATSHAW] FLYNN, aged 72, passed away Sunday afternoon, 4:30 o’clock at her home 721 East 10th Street, this city. Death resulted from tuberculosis following an illness of several years duration. Mrs. Flynn had been bedfast since last December. Amanda, daughter of George and Mary (DAUGHERTY) LATSHAW, was born in Fulton county on January 28th, 1864, in Aubbeenaubbee township. She removed to Rochester 49 years ago, where she has since resided. On August 8th, 1880, she was united in marriage to Leander FLYNN. The deceased was a member of the Wesleyn Methodist Church of Rochester. The survivors are: a son, Leonard [FLYNN]; three daughters, Mrs. Emma SWANGO, Mrs. Ida LIGHTFOOT, Mrs. Retha SWEET and ten grandchildren, all of Rochester. The husband and four children, George [FLYNN], William [FLYNN], Ray [FLYNN] and Zella [FLYNN] preceded in death. Funeral services in charge of Rev. Fred YEAZEL of the Home Mission church of this city, will be conducted Thursday afternoon, 2 o’clock at the Zimmerman Bros. funeral home. Interment will be made in the Rochester Citizens cemetery.2 |
