Williams, one of the best known and most popular citizens of Jones county, died Thursday night and was buried at Phantom Hill cemetery this afternoon at 4:00 o'clock. Mr. Williams had been in bad health a long time but was up and about until a few weeks ago, at which time he was confined to his bed. He and his sons owned one of the largest and most valuable farms on the Clear Fork of the Brazos river, 2,000 acres or more, and the Williams farm is one of the noted plantations in West Texas. Mr. Williams was 74 years of age but to the casual observer he looked as if he had many years of life ahead of him. He and his family enjoyed the friendship and esteem of Abilene people, where they have always done business, and the entire community joins us in tendering sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.8 |
