A native of Clay County, she was the daughter of the late R.O. and Georgia Sanderson Smith and the wife of the late Tillman R. Curtis, who died in 1970. In her early years, she taught school at Sweetwater Elementary School and later became a homemaker. She was a member of the Sweetwater United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities. Lucille had been active in the Hayesville Home Demonstration Club. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Curtis of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. Burial in Sweetwater United Methodist Church Cemetery.³
