Canton - Cora Lee Hargrove Curtis Devlin, of Sandy Branch Road, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at her home near Canton.
She was a native of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Mary Shook Hargrove. She was the widow of James Floyd Flossie Devlin and of Lt. John Frank Curtis, a U.S. Army Air Force pilot killed during World War II. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Hargrove Hutchins and Berlynn Hargrove Scroggs and three brothers, Augustus Gus Ray Hargrove, Lenoir Deacon Hargrove and Walter Hargrove.
A homemaker, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home was her haven where she enjoyed entertaining her many friends. She was a member of Canton Central United Methodist Church and a former board member of Canton Area Historical Museum. She participated in a variety of civic activities, especially those related to design and beautification of veteran memorials at Canton Memorial Stadium and Labor Day events.
Mrs. Devlin is survived by her son, Charles Skeeter Curtis and his wife, Susie of Canton; grandson, James Michael Little Skeeter Curtis and his wife, Myra of Canton; two great-grandsons, Franklin Morgan Curtis and Miles Hargrove Curtis; sister, Florence Hargrove Wells; special niece, Edie Hutchins Burnette and her brother, John Hutchins; other nieces and nephews; and loving caregivers, Shirley Clark and Janette Poston.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. David Christy officiating. Entombment will follow in Horizon Mausoleum at Crawford/Ray Memorial Garden.4
