Mrs. Curtis served humanity as a Registered Nurse for 34 years, where the last 17 years she worked at the VA Hospital in Salisbury where she retired. She was a member of Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church in Mooresville. Mrs. Curtis enjoyed swimming at the YMCA and at the lake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Curtis is survived by her husband of 67 years, William B. Curtis; children, Terry Curtis and wife, Donna, William Brent Curtis and wife, Margaret, Dona Parkinson and husband, Michael; brother, Bob Gurley; grandchildren, Blair Dingler, Jasmine Platteter, Amber Ward, Neely Purcell and Will Curtis; and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 2 at Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Pitts officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 7:00-9:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Williamson's Chapel UMC Building Fund, 575 Brawley School Rd, Mooresville, NC 28117 and/or Catawba Regional Hospice, 7473 Sherrills Ford Road, Sherrills Ford, NC 28673.
