Obit | George Bryant's obituary was published in the Times Dispatch on 17 March 1968: George Bryant Curtis of 1804 Nortonia Road, retired road foreman of engineers for the Richmond Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad Co., died Saturday in a local hospital. Mr. Curtis was an active member of the Masons, serving as past master of Meridian Lodge 284, AF & AM, and a member of the Scottish Rite and Acca Temple. He was past president of the Railway Fuel and Operating Officers' Association. He was also a member of Bethlehem Baptish Church. Mr. Curtis is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Mae Curtis, two sons, Robert B. and Bernard R. Curtis, both of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. Opal Willis of Vienna and Mrs. Edith Morgan of Kent Store; a brother, John O. Curtis of Lakeland, Fla. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Bennett Funeral Home, with burial in Riverview Cemetery.2 |

She is also survived by her devoted nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Lee-Lee; a devoted brother-in-law, William "Billy" Pully; sisters-in-law, Frances Curtis and Martha F. Beck; and her wonderful caregivers, Dennis and Nancy Tapp. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Clara Beck; brother, Lyman Louis "Bubba" Beck; sister, Jane Beck Pully; and brother, Charles Carroll Beck Sr. Martha Lee was a dedicated employee of C & P Telephone Company for 44 years and a member of First Baptist Church, Ashland. Though her last years here were not remembered by her, her family knows that in her new home with her Lord all her memories and good health are restored. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Ashland, where memorial services will also be held at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Road, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060; or the Memorial Garden Fund at First Baptist Church, Ashland, 800 Thompson Street, Ashland, Virginia 23005.4 |
