O'Daffer had been stationed with the U.S. Army at Milliani Town, Hawaii. He is survived locally by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd C. O'Daffer and two brothers, Larry and David, all of 1512 Lennox. Also surviving are his wife Melanie Dillinger O'Daffer, a sister, Mrs. Fred PHalen of 1217 N. Unio, and a brother, Ronnie of 315 Haller. Services will be at Todds Memorial Chapel, Pamona, Calif., with burial in Santa Ana, Calif.²

Mary Imogene "Imo" (Coover) Odaffer, 82, of Parsons went to be with the Lord at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society of Parsons, where she had resided since Feb. 27, 2012. She was born Jan. 22, 1931, at Erie to Guy L. and Opal V. (Austin) Coover. She attended Dennis and Parsons schools and later Parsons Junior College. On July 6, 1950, she married Elmo E. Odaffer at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, now Faith United Methodist Church, in Parsons with the Rev. Walter Brant officiating.
She taught at Whittier School west of Parsons for a year before moving to Anchorage, Alaska, where she worked in a bank for two years while her husband, Elmo, was serving in the U.S. Army. Upon returning to Parsons, Elmo and Imo ran Good Luck Fish Bait for more than 50 years before retiring. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, the Faith Builders, past president of the Faith United Methodist Women for many years and was an active member of the Optimist Class from its beginning. Her passions were her love for God and her work for the church. Her special ministry was visiting shut-ins. She attended nursing home church services, organized birthday and bingo parties for Elmhaven West and also organized Christmas basket projects for her church and shut-ins every December, along with many other church activities. Imo was honored by the Faith United Methodist Women by being presented a Special Mission Recognition pin and certificate for all she has done through the years for the entire church. She loved spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events and school functions. During retirement, she and Elmo enjoyed visiting relatives and going on many fishing trips.
Survivors include her husband, Elmo Odaffer of the home; two sons, Steve Odaffer and his wife, Kipra, of Parsons and Glen Odaffer and his wife, Candy, of Rockmart, Ga; a daughter, Opal Odaffer of Parsons; six grandchildren, Ryan Odaffer and his wife, Lindsey, Krista Thompson and her husband, Corey, Justin Odaffer, Jordan Odaffer, Matt Shipps and Chris Shipps; and three great-grandchildren, Brailyn, Katelynn and Brooklynn Odaffer. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Coover and Guy Coover; a son, the Rev. Victor E. Odaffer; and a grandson, Tyler Odaffer. The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church, 3035 Crawford Ave., in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.¹

Born Oct. 9, 1923, in Calio, Mo., she was the daughter of Roland and Margery (Jackson) Goodrich. She married Clyde Odaffer on Nov. 12, 1944, in Jacksonville, Ill., and they moved to Bedford in 1951. She and her husband, Clyde, were the owners of Western Auto and Stephenson's Clothing, both of Bedford. She was a 1941 graduate of Jacksonville High School.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bedford, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Bedford and the Business and Professional Woman's Association in Bedford. Survivors include her husband, Clyde of Bedford; two sons, Craig Odaffer and wife Jeanne of Bedford and Kent Odaffer and wife Kathy of Yuma, Ariz; two grandchildren Jennifer McPike of Ellettsville and Chad Odaffer and wife Tina of Indianapolis; and two great-grandchildren, C.J. and Tyler McPike. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.¹
