Obit | Sarah Artemesia's obituary was published in the Decatur Review on 6 July 1931: Mrs. Sarah Odaffer, sixty-four, 620 West Division street, died at 6:45 MOnday morning in the Decatur and Macon county hospital following a year's illness. She had been a patient in the hospital six weeks. The body was removed to the Reeser funeral home at Clinton where funeral services will be held at 2:00 Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be made in Weldon cemetery by the side of her husband, Lem Odaffer, who died Mar. 28, 1930. Mrs. Odaffer was born at Clinton the daughter of Robert and Sarah Glasgow. Following her marriage with Lem Odaffer in 1890 she lived at Clinton until ten years ago when she moved to Decatur with her husband. Surviving are: Miss Fay Stevenson of Decatur, a niece whom Mr. and Mrs. Odaffer raised; sisters: Mrs. Martha Dickey of Decatur and Mrs. John Goble of Enid, Okla; a brother, Ed Glasgow of Atascadero, Cal; and a number of nieces and nephews.3 |

They moved to Paxton in March 1956 where they lived until moving to a farm near Paxton three years ago. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Gerald W., Loda and Linden R., Paxton and a daughter, Nina Kay, 10 at home; three grandchildren, Tammy, Toni and Terry, children of the Gerald Bomans; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Carr, Weldon; Mrs. Earl Oakes, and Alice Odaffer, Noblesville, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents.2 |

Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville. He was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Jacksonville, the son of Ray and Edna Flynn Odaffer. He married Frances E. Hembrough in 1950 in Jacksonville; she preceded him in death in 1996. Mr. Odaffer was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He worked at Strawn's Crossing Elevator and later at T and H Farm Supply in Jacksonville for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 279 and the Brooklyn United Methodist Church, both in Jacksonville. Survivors: a sister, Louise (husband, William) Clayton of Ashland; three brothers, Harold (wife, Jean) Odaffer of Jacksonville, Clyde (wife, Peggy) Odaffer of Bedford, Ind., and George (wife, Eva) Odaffer of Satellite Beach, Fla; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 2:30 p.m. Friday, Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Burial: Asbury Cemetery.5 |
