One sister, Mrs. Mary Rankin, Berkeley Springs, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Berkeley Springs Church of Christ where funeral services will be held Friday October 25, with Edwin Floyd, minister, officiating. The body is at the Hunter Funeral Home and will be moved to the Church prior to services. Interment will be in Greenway Cemetery.2 |

Obit | Verda May's obituary was published in the Morgan Messenger on 16 May 1968: Verda May Rankin, 69, died Tuesday evening, May 14, at War Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Born in Morgan County March 18, 1899, she was the daughter of J. Wesley and Annie Bohrer Swaim and was a member of the Berkeley Springs Church of Christ. Surviving besides her husband, Arthur, Rankin, are two daughters, Mrs. Iva Lee Mellott of St. Thomas, Pa., and Mrs. Alice McCumbee of Berkeley Springs, one stepson, Bernard W. Rankin, Marion, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Lillie Lutman, three brothers, Irvin and Frank Swaim, all of Berkeley Springs and Heber of Hagerstown, Md. She also leaves five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The body will be removed from Hunters Funeral Home to the Church of Christ. . . by Edwin Floyd, minister. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.3 |
