ObitHenry's obituary was published in the Lancaster Daily Gazette on 18 January 1929:

Exposure is Fatal to Aged Tarlton Man

Henry Mowery, 86, the oldest resident of Tarlton, died about 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon from exposure suffered a few nights ago when he wandered away from his home and was not found until about four hours later. His hands and feet were frozen and his condition since then had confined him to his bed. He was found sitting in the church yard at Tarlton and was only partially conscious for some time afterwards.
Besides the widow, he is surived by seven children, four daughters, Mrs. Frank Hedges, Mrs. Clay Macklin and Mrs. Wayne Reichelderfer, all of Tarlton and Mrs. John Mowery of Columbus; three sons; Hyle, superintendent of the Pickaway County Infirmary, James of near Circleville and Robert of Columbus. Funeral services in charge of H.e. Deffenbaugh of Tarlton have not been completed but will be announced later.

8 January 1929, Lancaster Daily Gazette:
Most Aged Tarlton Resident in Critical Condition From Exposure After Wandering From Home
After wandering in the cold from 2 o'clock this morning until daylight Henry Mowery, aged 86, the oldest resident of Tarlton, was in critical condition today from exposure suffered before found crawling along the road on his hands and knees. Mowery, whose infirmities have made him unaccountable, got out of bed, dressed and wandered away from home with a small package of clothese under his arm.
He was found about a quarter of a mile away from his home and at that time was crawling towards his home. Mrs. Mowery upon missing him, notified her son-in-law Clay Macklin who lives near the Mowery home and Macklin organized a search for the aged man, found by Chas. Barr, W. Spangler, and Turk Peterson, all of Tarlton.
According to a report late today his condition this afternoon was somewhat improved, although his hands and feet were thought to be frozen. He was unconscious at time and unable to talk this morning. this afternoon he was able to talk a little and seemed to know various persons attending him.11
