George A. Yost, member of the Morgan County Court, died about, Wednesday, July 3 in Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for some time but not seriously ill only a few days. He was elected, without opposition, a member of the County Court last November and had served since January 1. He had served as a member of the Morgan County School Board and, before the county unit, had served as secretary of the Allen District Board. He wa a member of the Junior Order, service manager for the Morgan County Farm Bureau and a member of First EUB Church.
Born October 20, 1889 in Ohio, he was a son of the late Andrew and Charlotte Manrod Yost. For many years he engaged in farming in the New Hope community and was employed by Victor Products for a time. Survivors include his wife, the former Nellie Widmyer; two daughters-Mrs. Jerry Hettenhouser, Lakewood, Calif; Mrs. Samuel Butts, Berkeley Springs; two sons-Paul, Martinsburg; Kenneth, Berkeley Springs; two brothers-Leonard and Peter, both of Berkeley Springs; two half-brothers-Charles, West Middleton, Ohio; John, Cumberland, Md; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Slonaker, of First EUB Church, officiating. Interment was in Greenway Cemetery. Bearers were Frank Spriggs and Gladstone Mechem, fellow members of the County Court; C.R. Ambrose, clerk of the County Court, Frank Allemong, Roy P. Widmyer and O.B. Weber.1
