Born July 18, 1904, in Morgan County, he was the son of the late John William and Ida (Widmeyer) McBee. He was formerly employed as a streetcar conductor in Washington, D.C. He retired after 40 years as a railroad carcam with the Washington Terminal Co. He ws a member of Snyder's Bible Chapel.
Surviving are two daughters, Gladys and Mary McBee; two sons, George and Joe McBee; one half-brother, Donald S. McBee of Berkeley Springs; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are being held today, Wednesday, May 9, at 1:00 p.m. at the Snyder's Bible Chapel with the Rev. Henry Fisher officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.2

Renzie Dowl McBee, 75, Route 3, (River road), Hedgesville, died Saturday, August 13, 1983 in War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, after an extended illness. Born June 16, 1908 in Morgan County he was a son of the late John W. and Ida E. Widmyer McBee. He was a member of Snyder's bible Chapel and retired from the B&O Railroad in 1971 after 45 years of service, last as a welder.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma Householder McBee, at the home, whom he married June 14, 1930; two sons, Jack L. McBee, and Douglas JM. McBee, both of Hedgesville; three daughters, Joan E. Potter, Berkeley Springs, Patricia A. Fox, Palmyra, Pa., and Kaiy L. Gassert, Leganon, Pa; 15 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Marlin McBee, Brent McBee and Donald McBee, all of Berkeley Springs; also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 15, from Snyuder's Bible Ckhapel, Morgan County with pastors Kenneth Reed and Gary Kerns officiating with interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Spohrs Cross Roads. Brown Funeral Home in Marinsburg ws in charge of arrangements.2

(Witness) BioHENRY WIPPERMAN, a respected citizen of Washington Township, was born in Germany February 23, 1832, and when an infant immigrated with his parents to the United States, locating in Pennsylvania, and when six years old removed to Cass County, settling in Clinton Township. Here young Henry was reared on a farm; attended the district schools, and at the age of sixteen began working at the carpenter's trade on his own responsibility, and followed this occupation for twenty years. In 1852 he went to California, and there engaged as a mill-wright, in also mining until 1866, in which year he returned to Cass County. He was married, in California, February 14, 1861, to Matilda Ossenbeck, a daughter of Frederick and Maria Ossenbock, natives of Germany. Mrs. Wipperman was born in Logansport, Ind., September 21, 1837. She received a good education in her native county, completing her studies in California, where she had gone to regain her health. Two children were born to this union: Franklin H., born December 15, 1861, and William F., born June 8, 1867, died August 8, 1867. The wife and mother died July 23, 1867, and for his present wife Mr. Wipperman selected Maria C. McGinnis, to whom he was married February 18, 1873. She is a daughter of Jacob and Ann (Pride) Short; was born January 29, 1837, in Sussex County, Del., and immigrated to Pennsylvania with her parents in 1839; thence, in 1847, to Cass County. By hard work and prudential economy Mr. Wipperman has obtained it competence, now owning two fine farms, besides several dwellings in Logansport, and is at present living at his pleasant country home, a short distance south of the city. He is a member of the Democratic party, and served one term as county commissioner. Himself and family are members of the English Lutheran Church.3

Mrs. Marie C. Wipperman, wife of Henry Wipperman, died this morning at her home, No. 222 Thirteenth Street, after an illness of four weeks, aged sixty-four years and ten months, death being due to pneumonia, which later developed into heart trouble. The deceased was a sister of Mrs. Mary Carriger of this city and Mrs. Lucy Kinneman of Mexico, who, with her husband, survive her. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the residence, Reve. W.W. Dysinger officiating. Interment will be made in the old city cemetery.

Born in Morgan county on September 25, 1874, she ws a daughter of the late Isaac and Henrietta Gertrude Stotler Bohrer, direct descendants of Adam and Elizabeth Bohrer, pioneer residents of the county dating from the 17th century. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Methodist Church at Stotler's Cross Roads.
Surviving are-four sons-Harry, Washington, D.C., Wade, Cumberland, Md; Boyd, Berkeley Springs; Jesse, Weston; two daughters-Mrs. Jeffrey Busey, Mrs. Audrey Waugh, Berkeley Springs; brother, Seymour Bohrer, Warfordsburg, Pa; sister, Mrs. Lizzie Aulabaugh, Berkeley Springs; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Church with her pastor, the Rev. C.G. Russell, the Rev. E.C. Day, a former pastor of Staunton, Va., and the Rev. Wilbur Jay, pastor of Trinity E.U.B. Church, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were-John Shade, Don Vangosen, Fred Henry, Newton Graham, Willie Pentoney and Robert "Babe" Unger.3

Services were conducted Thursday, February 12 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at Spohrs Crossroads, conduced by Rev. Henry Fisher, with interment in the church cemetery. Arrangements were made by Hunter Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery Memorial Fund.1

"Mac" McBee, Hedgesville; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Renzie Dowl McBee on August 13, 1983; two sisters, V. Rosalie Clingerman and F. Lorraine Butts; three brothers, Daniel R. Householder, Samuel M. Householder and Paul W. Householder. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, at Snyder's Bible Chapel, Route 9, Hedgesville, with Pastor Joseph L. Mercer officiating. Interment was in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery, Berkeley Springs. Helsley-Johnson Funeral, Berkeley Springs, was in charge of arrangements.3

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served as deacon, treasurer, historian and Sunday school teacher. He formerly managed the Angle Roller Mills, he worked at Fairchild Industries. He was assessor of Morgan County from 1962-1966.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Hewett Iden, at home; four daughters, Anna Marie Somers, of Falston, Md., Peggy Michael and Barbara Yost, both of Berkeley Springs and Carol Sue Sterling of Yardley, Pa; a son, J.D. Iden of Woodbine, Md; a sister, Jeffrey Busey, of Berkeley Springs; a brother, Jeff B. Iden, of Clarksburg; 12 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Services were held Monday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Funkhouser and the Rev. Henry Fisher officiating. Burial was in Greenway Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church. Arrangements were by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.1

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; he was a professional photographer and owner-operator of the Camera Shop in Berkeley Springs for 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60 and served on the committee of the Tomato Festival and the Morgan County Fair. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, member and past president of the Morgan County School Board, and a member and past president of the P.T.A. He was a former photographer for the Martinsburg Journal, the Herald Mail and the Morgan Messenger. He wrote copy for the Associated Press.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Henry Ruppenthal, at home; two daughters, Ronnie Sue Childers, Berkeley Springs, and Judith Ann Young, Manassas, Va; two sons, Henry M. Ruppenthal, III, Sutton, W. Va. and Virgil H. Ruppenthal, Berkeley Springs; a brother Paul M. Ruppenthal, Martinsburg; and 11 grandchildren. Services were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8 at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, with the Rev. Frederick Walz officiating. Burial was in the Greenway Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.8

Lemeta R. Chewning, 85, of Baltimore, MD, died Wednesday, September 26, 2001, at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Born September 24, 1916, in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Ercel Beauford and Maggie Johnson Ruppenthal. She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Temple Chewning. She was a beautician and also managed beauty salons. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Christ.
She is survived by two sons, Marshall Chewning of Jarrettsville, MD and Dwight Chewning of Potomac Falls, VA; and vie grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 29, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church of Christ, 5802 Roland Ave., Baltimore, with the Rev. David Caldwell officiating. Interment was in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville, MD. Arrangements were Loring Byers Funeral Directors, Inc., 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD.4

Mrs. Nettie Virginia McBee, 83, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, December 2, 1979 in the Valley View Nursing Home where she had been a guest since June 28, 1979. She was born on March 29, 1896, a daughter of the late Walter and Anna Stotler Lopp. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Spohrs Cross Roads.
Surviving are three sons, Melvin C. McBee, Irvin H. McBee and Raymond L. McBee, all of Berkeley Springs; one daughter, Mrs. Laszlo (Esther) Traykovick, Westminster, Md; three granddaughters; three great grandsons; and one brother, William Lopp of Berkeley Springs. Funeral services are being conducted today, Wednesday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Church with the Rev. Henry L. Fisher officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.1
