| Obit | Charles Elijah's obituary was published in the Lenoir News-Topic on 25 May 2017: The Rev. Charles Elijah Keever, 83, of Lenoir went on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, to his Heavenly Home, where he is now walking the streets of gold. He was born Aug. 25, 1933, in McDowell County to the late Dan Bryson Keever and Annie Ollis Keever Day. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Betty Childers, Fran Staten, Helen Rice, Peggy Elliot, and Brenda Younce. Rev. Keever was the founding Pastor of Green Mountain Baptist Church, where he served faithfully for 47 years. Prior to his time at Green Mountain, he served as Pastor of Worship Point Baptist Mission Church for four years. He was a wonderful man of God and loved spreading God's word throughout the Country. His ministry has touched the lives of so many. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and Pastor. Sur vivors include his wife of 66 years, Wilda Curtis Keever of the home; three sons, Charles Keever Jr. and wife Vickie, and Larry Keever and wife Kathy, all of Lenoir, and James Clark and wife Peggy of Granite Falls; two daughters, Sandra Parker and husband Dean, and Judy Ester and husband Ronnie, all of Hudson; two sisters, Linda Carter of Hudson, and Mary Morrison of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren, Sarah Parker Bailey, Jessica Parker, Chad Ester, Brent Ester, Justin Keever, and Whitney Keever Winkler; and five great-grand-children, Hailey Grace Keever, Kate Ester, Brody Ester, Ryan Winkler, and Iveigh Winkler. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Green Mountain Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Billy Seats, the Rev. Lane Hamby, and the Rev. Don Church. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. he family will receive friends Friday, May 26, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Green Mountain Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Ester, Brent Ester, Justin Keever, Phillip Bailey, Joel Coffey, and Dustin Winkler. Honorary pallbearers will be the special men of God whom Rev. Keever loved so dearly.3 |
