The Correll auto hit Mrs. Carrothers’ car broadside and Mrs. Carrothers was thrown from her vehicle. Miss Correll was admitted to the hospital with undeterined injuries. State police investigated. McCain funeral home is in charge of last rites. Monday, May 20, 1968 Ethel L. Carrothers Last rites were held this afternoon at the McCain funeral home for Mrs. Ethel L. CARROTHERS, 59, R.R. 1, Macy, who died Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Dukes hospital at Peru of injuries sustained in a two-car auto accident. The Rev. Fred VINCENT officiated and burial was in the Ebenezer Methodist church cemetery. Mrs. Carrothers suffered a skull fracture when her car was involved in a collision with another driven by Miss Maxine CORRELL, 21, R.R. 1, Denver, at 3:50 p.m. Friday on the Onward road near Peru. Born in South Bend Sept. 18, 1908, she was the daughter of Ben and Pearl BEECHLER HALTERMAN and had spent the past 38 years in the Macy community. Her marriage was Nov. 25, 1925, at Niles, Mich., to Roy Victor CARROTHERS, who died Aug. 16, 1955. Mrs. Carrothers was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist church and Eastern Star of Gilead. Surviving ar five sons, Robert [CARROTHERS], South Bend; Willis [CARROTHERS], R.R. 1, Macy; Brice [CARROTHERS], R.R. 5, Peru; James [CARROTHERS], Wabash, and Luther [CARROTHERS], R.R. 2, Peru; eleven grandchildren; one brother, Dale HALTERMAN, Dowagiac, Mich; and four sisters, Mrs. Edith Van LUE, Indianapolis; Mrs. Helen THOMPSON, Harvey, Ill; Mrs. Louise OAKLEY and Mrs. Edna DIETCHLEY, both of Mishawaka.6 |

He attended Western Reserve Academy and graduated from Strongsville High School in 1959. Being a strong believer in higher education, he received a MBA in marketing at the University of Chicago, a Bacheolor of Science in Electrical Engineering at Case Institute of Technology and a Bachelor in Arts in Physics at Miami University of Ohio. In 1970, Tom moved to Fresno, Ca. to work with Valley Decorating as Vice President of Marketing and Development. He continued to grow with the company and became the President in 1982. He worked with Valley Decorating for 17 years. Recognizing the need for a greater variety of outdoor commercial décor he established Sierra Display, Inc. in 1987. Many of his peers recognize him as a legend in the industry. Tom truly enjoyed the outdoors and became involved with several competitive sports. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and included them in his activities whenever possible. He took pride in each and every one of his family. Special thanks and recognition is extended to Dr. Greg Copeland and Nancy Hinds Hospice for their care and compassion during his final days.
