Mr. and Mrs. Norman lived on a farm two and a half miles north of Macy. Mrs. Norman had been a patient in the hospital since Tuesday. The deceased, Anna Marie Slisher, was born on Oct. 15, 1910 at Hammond. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Slisher. She has been a resident of Macy for the past 12 years at which time her parents moved to Macy from Hammond. Eighteen months ago she was married to Ernest Norman. She was a member of the Christian church at Macy. Survivors are the husband, daughter, father, five brothers William, Carl of Hammond, Dee and Paul of near Macy, Charles who makes his home with his father in Macy and a sister Zada who also lives with her father.1

on June 13, 1914, but came early in life to Fulton county, where he has since resided. On Feb. 4, 1938, he was united in marriage, at a ceremony performed in South Bend, to Irma Rose HEISER, who, with a daughter, Sue [SLONAKER], a son Dean SLONAKER]; parents; three sisters, Doris [SLONAKER] and Esther SLONAKER and Mrs. Marguerita NORRIS, and two brothers, all of Rochester, survive. Final rites will be held from Trinity Evangelical church at 2:00 o’clock Thursday afternoon with the Rev. H. L. ADAMS of Hobart, assisted by the Rev. Benjamin THOMAS, officiating. Burial will be in Masonic cemetery at Culver. The body will be removed from the Foster funeral home to the residence this evening, where friends may pay respects.1

She was born August 25, 1868, at Chili, Ind., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Abbott. She was married to Alonzo C. Hoover of Athens, Ind., 62 years ago. He preceded her in death in September, 1919. They came to Kokomo for residence 44 years ago. Mrs. Hoover was a member of the Souh Side Christian church.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Otheal Berry of Peru, Mrs. William Brunke and Mrs. Henry Kepner, both of Kokomo; three sons, Earl of Detroit, Robert and Joe of Kokomo; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one brother, George Abbott of Kokomo; half brother William Abbott of Fulton; half sister, Alice Mae Fisher of Kewanna, Ind, and several nieces and nephews. Two sons are deceased. Services will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Fenn funeral chapel, followed by burial in Hoover cemetery at Athens, Ind.3

He was a retired automobile mechanic, having operated the Berry Garage at Peru for 30 years. He was born April 2, 1895 to Charles and Elizabeth BURK BERRY. In 1917, he married Louise HOOVER, who survives. A member of the Peru-Miami Masonic lodge, he was also a member of the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite. He was a 55-year member of Peru’s First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at the Drake-Flowers funeral home in Peru Monday at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. Gary ALLBRITTEN officiating. Burial will be in Peru’s Mount Hope cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, after 2 p.m. Saturday.9

Harley Melton officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.10

Robert Lee Hoover, 83, 1430 S. Buckeye St., died at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1982 in Sycamore Village Health Care Center. He was born in Athens, Ind., Dec. 2, 1898, the son of Alonzo and Rose (Abbott) Hoover. He was married Sept. 26, 1935, to Verna Havens Brown who survives.

He was a 25-year veteran of the Kokomo Fire Department and served as chief from 1939 to 1943. He innovated the city’s first first-aid service. He was formerly employed by Massey Plumbing and Heating, Armstrong Landon and Co., and Cuneo Press and served as street commissioner. He was named Indiana Street Commissioner of the Year in 1965. Also surviving are two sons, Richard and David Hoover, both of Kokomo; a daughter, Betty Melton of Russiaville, a sister, Mary Brunke of Kokomo; and three grandchildren. A son, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday in Ellers Mortuary with the Rev. Steve Ailes officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery and calling at the funeral home will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.10

She refused to be comforted and gradually became worse. Miss Ella BLUMFIELD and Jacob HOOVER were married 39 years ago Saturday, in Rochester. She was 59 years old last September. Funeral Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock at the house, Rev. George PULLMAN in charge.

The funeral services of Mrs. Ella HOOVER were held from the late home at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. George PULLMAN in charge. Interment at Mausoleum. Among those from out of the city who were here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. - - - - CANADY, of Indianapolis and A. C. HOOVER and daughter, Miss Louise [HOOVER], of Kokomo.7

Louis M. HOOVER, 25, deputy county surveyor and only son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob HOOVER, died Monday night at 11:25 at the home on West 5th St., a victim of pneumonia. He had been sick but a short time, altho several weeks previous to becoming seriously ill, he had been complaining with the grip. His parents are prostrated. Louis Hoover was born in Huntington, September 10, 1891, the second son of Jacob and Ella HOOVER. When he was one year old, they moved to Rochester where they have since resided. In 1910, he graduated from the Rochester high school, going then to Purdue university and later attending the State School of Mines at Rolla, Missouri. When Alvin OLIVER was elected county surveyor, Mr. Hoover was appointed deputy, which position he held until his death. He had an older brother, William [HOOVER], who died in infancy. He was a member of the Elks club at Peru, of the Cleofan fraternity at Purdue and of the Rochester Golf club. Mr. Hoover took an active part in the social life of Rochester. He was always congenial and many times insisted on participating in affairs, when his health demanded better treatment. Funeral Thursday at two o’clock at the home.2

The aged woman gradually sank away. Although not afflicted with any disease, weakness attending her advanced age caused her to take to her bed for many weeks. Mrs. Brumfield had been a widow since she was 22 years old, when her husband, Hiram BRUMFIELD, passed away. She [Elizabeth HARPER] was born in Camden, Ohio, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James HARPER. After her marriage to Mr. Brumfield, they moved to Randolph county and later to this county, where she lived for over 50 years. She leaves two children, Mrs. Jacob HOOVER of this city and Mrs. Joseph BABCOCK of near Wagoners. Three children are dead. Mrs. Brumfield was a member of the Presbyterian church for over 40 years. Funeral Monday afternoon at two o’clock at the Mt. Zion church, Rev. S. A. STEWART of Rochester in charge.3

Saturday, April 28, 1917 The funeral of Mrs. A. E. SINGLETON was held from the home in North State street yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. The Rev. G. F. COURRIER, pastor of the Marion Street Methodist church, Aurora and the Rev. Mr. BURR of Lockport, officiated. Mrs. G. F. COURRIER gave a vocal solo and William GOODALE and Mrs. Harry VAUGHN sang a duet. Burial was in Lockport cemetery. Mrs. Singleton died in Silver Cross hospital Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock. She was born in De Graff, Ohio, Feb. 21, 1864, and was married Decemb er 24, 1891. She was formerly Miss Flora Maye HOOVER. She was survived by her husband, two daughters and a son. They are Mrs. Charles GOODALE, Lois [SINGLETON] and Kenneth SINGLETON, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. S. LOWMAN, Akron, Miss Louise HOOVER, Rochester, Ind., John HOOVER and Scott STINSON, both of Chicago. - - - Joliet News.5 
Death*She died on 20 April 1917 at Lockport, Will, Illinois, at age 53; date of obituary, buried at Lockport Cemetery.6

Miss Lou HOOVER, aged 70, for many years a resident of this city died at 4 o’clock this morning from a stroke of paralysis which she suffered yesterday while visiting in the home of her step-sister, Mrs. Samuel LOWMAN who resides on a farm three and half miles northwest of Akron. Miss Hoover has been in ill health for the past two years due to heart trouble. She resided at 913 South Madison street.

Miss Hoover was born in Ohio and came to Indiana with her parents John and Sarah DOLPH when she was a young girl. Mr. Dolph died and his widow married Samuel HOOVER who legally adopted the deceased as his daughter. Miss Hoover was a seamstress and for many years was in charge of the alteration department of the M. Wile & Sons department store. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors are the step-sister, Mrs. LOWMAN, niece Mrs. Lois BYRON, Joliet, Ill., and a nephew Kenneth SINGLETON, Chicago, Illinois.

The body has been moved to the Zimmerman Funeral Apartment. The funeral arrangements had not been made at the time The News-Sentinel went to press.2

Mrs. Samuel [D.] [Clara HOOVER] LOWMAN, aged 71, life resident of Henry township, died at 5:20 o’clock Monday afternoon at her farm home two and a half miles northwest of Akron Death followed an illness of five years due to complications. The deceased was born on a farm near Akron, September 21, 1868. Her parents were Samuel and Martha (WHITTENBERGER) HOOVER. In a ceremony performed July 29, 1912 she was married to Mr. Lowman. Mrs. Lowman was a member of the Omega church near her home. Survivors are the husband and a foster son, Murray C. HOOVER, 4906 Harrison street, Chicago. Mrs. Lowman was a sister of the late Miss Lou HOOVER. The funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock Thursday morning from the Val Zimmerman funeral apartments with Rev. POWELL in charge. Burial will be made in the Mt. Hope cemetery at Athens.3
