HURST of Macy, who survives. Mr. Richardson had lived in North Manchester for the past 15 years, moving from Macy where he resided from 1932-45. He was a sales representative for the Magnus Chemical company. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Irvington Presbyterian church in Indianapolis. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Patricia FOLEY, Albuqueraque, N.M., and Mrs. Carol DICK, Ormond Beach, Fla; eight grandchildren; a brother, Lewis [RICHARDSON], Indianapolis. Preceding in death were a son and a brother. Last rites will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the McCain country chapel at U.S. 31 and Ind 16, with the Rev. Arthur MAIN officiating. Burial will be in the Plainview cemetery at Macy. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.3 |

He graduated in 1928 from Deedsville High School, where he played basketball. He attended Akron Church of God and was active in local and nartional Boy Scouts of America activities. He was a basketball official and led two scout expeditions to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He was a Reppublican precinct committeeman for 60 years, for which he was recognized as one of the longest serving in the State. He was a Kosciusko County representative of the Fisth District from 1981 to 1989 and was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Robert D. Orr in 1986. He served on the Mentone Town Board for 14 years and was active with the Mentone Emergency Medical Services, where he was its first president and was also a treasurer. Survivors include one son, Richard [TOMBAUGH] and wife Jeannie, Atlantic Beach, Fla; [three] step-sons, William YANTISS and wife Glennda, Centennial, Colo., John J. YANTISS and wie Brenda [YANTISS], Indianapolis, [and Bruce ROBINSON]; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild. Preceding in death with his wives were his parents, two brothers, Robert and Gerald TOMBAUGH. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Rev. Steve FLECK officiating. Burial will be at Akron Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mentone EMS or Akron Church of God.3 |

Born to Richard Dirk and Jessie (Post) Terpstra in Chicago, Ill., Mr. Terpstra moved to the Rochester area in 1939 and served in 462 World War II after being drafted in February 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ara in the South Pacific until February 1946. His first marriage was to Marjorie L. Mikesell on Sept. 12, 1946, in Kokomo. After his first marriage ended in divorce, he married Jean Kinder Sheets on Oct. 10, 1994, in Rochester. She preceded him in death April 21, 2000. From 1952 to 1956, he was joint owner of the Fulton Lumber Company Inc., in Fulton. In 1956, he purchased the Fulton County Lumber & Construction Company in Rochester, which he owned and operated until 1974. Major construction projects were the Rochester Medical Building, the Catholic Parish Hall and Rectory and the Streamliner. He was also instrumental in various housing additions: Oakwood, Southwoods and the Reese and Pownell additions. Mr. Terpstra was also active in many civic groups in Fulton County. He was a past president of the Fulton County Young Republicans, the Lions Club and the Fulton County Historical Society. He was a former member of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce and the John Birch Society. He was also past chairman of the board, trustee and deacon of First Christian Church, Rochester. In his later years, he was involved with Friends of the Library, Habitat for Humanity, Hope Hospice of Fulton County and Big Brothers Big Sisters. He is survived by one son, Peter William (Connie) II, Athens; and a daughter, Patricia Ann, Wright City, Mo; four grandchildren, Mrs. Mitchell R. (Rebecca) Terpstra Kehler, Morgantown, Peter W. Terpstra III, Leesburg, Richard J. Terpstra, Greenfield, and Alicia A. Terpstra, Muncie; and one great-grandchild, Kaylee B. Kehler. Also surviving are five siblings, Dick Terpstra, Columbus, Ohio, Charlotte Terpstra Eakins Fowler, Flagler Beach, Fla., Mrs. Dean T. (Joy) Terpstra Rizor, El Cajon, Calif., Mrs. Marlin L. (Eunice) Terpstra Stockwell, Trinity, Fla., and Walter S. Terpstra, Marysville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Feb. 6, 1976; his mother, July 8, 1983; a sister, Sylvia Terpstra Larrison, April 11, 2005; a brother, Paul Dupree (aka Wesley Terpstra), Nov. 1, 2006; and one great-grandson, Zachary R. Kehler, July 4, 2001. 463 A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with Sarah Purkey of Hope Hospice as hostess. Burial will be at Rochester IOOF Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the LeRoy Shelton American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars of Rochester. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.
