He was married December 24, 1889, to Essie M. SCHOOLCRAFT, who preceded him in death several years ago. He was a member of the Sand Hill Methodist church. Survivors include: five sons, Ossie [FOOR], of Willoughby, O; Furman [FOOR] and Jesse [FOOR], both of South Bend; James [FOOR], of Wanatah; and Dennis [FOOR], at home; two brothers, Frederick [FOOR], Rochester, and Dr. J. D. FOOR, Terre Haute; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Sand Hill Methodist church with Rev. John Paul JONES in charge. Burial will be made in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery. The body will be returned to the Foor residence this evening from the Foster funeral home.1 |

Surviving are the wife; one brother, Dennis FOOR, Rochester; four step-daughters, Mrs. Dorothy HEMINGER, LaPorte; Mrs. Lois WRIGHT, LaCrosse; Mrs. Virginia FOOR, LaPorte; and Mrs. Margey KEPCHA, LaPorte; one step-son, Melvin ESSLINGER, Rockfalls, Ill; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The Rev. Paul STEELE will officiate at the services, and burial will be in the Westville cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted at graveside. Friends may call at the funeral home.2 |

Surviving with the wife are two sons, Dennis “Mike” FOOR, Rocheter; five grandchildren, Stephen, Leighann and Erik FOOR, all of Carmel, and Amanda and Vanessa FOOR, both of Rochester; and nieces and nephews. The parents and four brothers, Osa, Ferman, Jesse and Jim [FOOR], preceded in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rocheter with the Rev. Arlie MITCHUM officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday.5 |

Obit | Jesse's obituary was published in the Rochester Sentinel on 5 April 1968: Jess W. VICE, 74, LaPaz, died at 4:42 a.m. Wednesday in the South Bend Osteopathic hospital following a four-week illness. A retired carpenter, Mr. Vice was born Dec. 9, 1893, in Boone county, the son of Marion and Annie SHELTON VICE. On Nov. 23, 1913, in Macy, he was married to Ruth ALLEN, who survives. He lived in LaPaz 26 years, moving there from the Macy area. Also surviving are three sons, Jesse [VICE], Rochester; Wallace [VICE], Macy, and Leonard W. [VICE], Plymouth; three daughters, Mrs. Irvin WARNER, Mrs. Kenneth BALMER, and Mrs. Gary VINNEY, all of LaPaz; two sisters; one brother; fifteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Last rites will be at 1 p.m. Saturdy in the Johnson funeral home in Plymouth. The Rev. W. W. CALE will officiate. Burial will be in the Five Corers cemetery at Macy. Friends may call at the funeral home.2 |
