He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, a member of Glen Owens Post 14 American Legion, Peru, served 52 years on the Macy Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of Macy Christian Church. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara and husband Willis WIDEMAN, Macy; one son, Ronald L. and wife Darlene VICE, Fulton; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Opal WARNER and Mary BALMER, both of Plymouth; two brothers, Jesse VICE, Rochester and Wayne VICE, Mesa, Ariz. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard VICE. Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver with the Rev. David WELSH officiating. He was a railroader for Norfolk & Western Railroad and worked as a crossman watchman. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 852, where he was a Golden Eagle, and to the Brotherhood of Railroaders. Survivors include a son, Charles E. Vice and wife Pam, Plymouth; two grandsons, Nicolas Charles Edward Vice and Charles Storm Jesse Vice, both of Plymouth; a brother, Wayne Vice, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Tom (Ladonna) NICKLAUS, Rt. 4, Rochester; two granddaughters, Rhonda PALMER, Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Jeff (Rhea) HASTINGS, Fort Wayne; a grandson, Ronald NICKLAUS, with the U.S. Army en route to Germany; three sisters, Mrs. Hurd (Goldia) BRIGGS and Edna PRATT, both of Macy, and Alta OMSTEAD, Fulton; two brothers, Kirch [HECKATHORN], Nyona Lake, and Kenneth [HECKATHORN], Rt. 6, Rochester; and nieces and nephews. Obit | Lawson's obituary was published in the Troy Daily News on 28 December 1956: LAWSON MACY DIES AT STOUDER MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Lawson Macy, 69, of R R 2, Tipp City, died at 5am today at Stouder Memorial hospital. He had been a patient there for the past nine weeks. A native of Butler township, Montgomery county, he was born Dec 29, 1887, the son of Elia and Emma Ingle. He was a farmer and a member of the Polk Grove Congregational Christian church. He served as a trustee of Butler township for several years. Surviving are his wife, Edna; four sons, Everett of South Charleston, Lester of Brookville, Donald of Vandalia, Raymond of Tipp City, Dale also of South Charleston; two daughters, Mrs Evelyn Mefford of Tipp City, Cecile M. Macy of R R 1, Vandalia; a brother, Clarence Macy, of Tipp City; 14 grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00pm at the Polk Grove Congregational Christian church. Burial will be in the Polk Grove cemetery. Rev John Queens will officiate. Friends may call at the Coppock and Lee Memorial home, Tipp City, after 2pm Sunday until noon Monday when the body will be taken to the church.6 |
