CURTIS, 66, 1154 E. 450 North, Rochester, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Friday in the Woodlawn Hospital emergency room. Mr. Curtis was born Feb. 23, 1939, in Rochester to Ralph and Edna Paxton Curtis Sr. On March 9, 1963, in Rochester, he married Rebecca A. Newell. She survives. Mr. Curtis was a retired regional sales manager for Hahn Systems of Indianapolis, amember of the Rochester American Legion, Manitou Moose Lodge, Ohio Gun Collectors, Colt Collectors Association, a life member of the National Rifle Association and served with the U.S. Marines from 1958 to 1961. He was a 1957 graduate of Rochester High School and an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Surviving with his wife is one daughter, Lori and husband Sergei Filatyev, Lafayette; one son, Ryan and wife Cindy Curtis, Syracuse; one grandson, Specialist H. B. Adams and wife Meghan serving with the 25th Infantry Division in Northern Iraq; one brother, Ralph and wife Peggy Curtis Jr., Rochester; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sharon Knauff. His memorial service is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. Military rites will be conducted by the Rochester American Legion and VFW posts at the funeral home following the memorial service. Memorials may be made to the United States Overseas organization.1 |

He had been in decling health for the past four years, his condition became critical the latter part of last week and he was admitted to the hospital early Saturday morning. A liflong resident of this county, Mr. Curtis was born September 2, 1889, the son of Simon *(unable to read last letter) (listed as "Sinsun?" in 1870 Trigg County Census), and Artie Mae Welker Curtis. He was a member of the Rocky Ridge Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 10, at 2 p.m. at the Goodwin Funeral with his pastor, the Rev. L.L. Spurlin officiating. The New Hope Quartet was in charge of the music service. Burial was in the Stewart Cemetery in Trigg County. The survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Jackson Curtis, mother, Mrs. Artie King, Hopkinsville: three sons, Henry Curtis, Trigg County, Frank and Dell Curtis, Hammond, Ind; two step-sons, Byron Choate, Trigg (County) and Lacy Choate, Christian County, two daughters, Mrs. Earleen Berry, Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Charles (Marie) Woods, Hammond, Ind., two stepdaughters, Mrs. Myrtle Dunn, Trigg County, and Mrs. Othell (Lola) Hancock, Christian County; one brother, Dillard Curtis, Providence, and a half brother. One sister, Mrs. Verna Yager, Moorhouse, Miss; five half sisters ;and forty grandchildren. Pallbearers were James Lacy Choate, Byron Choate, Jr., Clarence Choate, James Hancock, Thomas Hancock, and Gene Hancock. Paternal grandparents,Mickens & Maranda Curtis. Uncle; Alford. Aunts; Nellie, Cyntha, Polly, Alpha, & Frances. Mrs. Morris Blane Leneave, Jr. was in charge of the flowers.5 |

Obit | Bert's obituary was published in the Democrat Argus on 3 March 1966: Bert Skinner, 70, retired Braggadocio merchant, died at his home there Saturday, February 26. He was born at Braggadocio on May 16, 1895, the son of Sam and Lizzie Skinner and spent his entire life in that area.He owned and operated a general merchandise store for 35 years until retiring and was a member of the Baptist Church and Hayti Lodge 571, A.F.& A.M. On April 3, 1916, at Blytheville, he was married to Miss Anna Curtis, who survives. His only other survivor is a niece, Mrs. Mary Ann Warth, of Flint, Mich, who was reared in their home. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Braggadocio Baptist Church with the Rev. D.K. Foster of this city and Rev. Glen Johnson of Blytheville officiating. Burial was in Maple Cemetery with H.S. Smith Funeral Home service.1 |

Obit | Alexander Mark's obituary was published in the Democrat Argus on 5 October 1956: The body of a prominent Braggadocio merchant, A.M. DeBakey, was found early Wednesday morning in the bathroom of his home by neighbors, he having presumably died several days ago, possibly Saturday, of a heart attack. Mr. DeBakey's wife and daughter were away from the home at the time. No inquest was held. Coroner John German stating that death was obviously due to natural causes. Alexander Mark DeBakey was born in Syria March 27, 1899, and came to this country when a young man. He lived for a few years in Caruthersville but had been in Braggadocio for the past 24 years and was 57 years old.Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. H.C. Adkins in the Braggadocio Baptist church yesterday (Thursday) afternoon with burial in Maple Cemetery, this city, German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge.He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Lee DeBakey, a son, A.M. DeBakey Jr., a daughter, Annie Belle DeBakery, and two grandchildren, all of Braggadocio; and two brothers Ellis DeBakey of Fort Worth, Texas and S.M. DeBakey of Lake Chrles, La.1 |
