In addition to woodworking, Jack loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and granddaddy, and will be loved and cherished always. Jack was a member of theChurch of Christ. Joe Roy Curtis was born June 5, 1928, in Weatherford to the late Pat and Lydia Curtis. His family were all early settlers in Weatherford, where he had lived all his life. Joe passed away, April 10, 2002, at a Fort Worth Hospital. He became a Marine at age 18 and soon joined the fight in the Korean War. He was part of the famed Chosen Few and was awarded the purple heart for injuries received there in 1950. After returning from the war he met and married Maggie Brock on April 13, 1952. After receiving his degree from North Texas State University, Joe taught high school at Greenwood for two years before becoming an examiner for the state Board of Insurance, a job he retired from in 1987. He was later administrative vice president of Trans-America Life Insurance in Fort Worth and later became a contract financial examiner for the states of Georgia and Mississippi. Joe was a faithful long-time member of the South Main Church of Christ. Joe enjoyed playing golf regularly with life long friends, Bob Hill and Billy Jack Hines, both of Fort Worth. His greatest loves were his relationship with God and his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors: Beloved wife, Maggie Curtis of Weatherford; loving daughters, Jan Williams and husband, Bobby, of Weatherford and Kathy Chandler of Weatherford; son, Joe Curtis of Dallas; grandchildren, Jamie, Kiki and Lori Chandler, Leslie McMillen and husband, Matthew, Bethany Castleberry and husband, Egan and Robby Williams; great-grandson, Harrison Castleberry; sister, Beverly Oakley and husband, Ken, of Weatherford; and many other relatives and friends.
