She worked at Londontown Manufacturing in Hancock during the 1960s and then moved to Boca Raton, FL where she owned and operated a gift shop until 1981 when she returned to Berkeley Springs. She also worked as a waitress at Barb's in Hazelton, PA and had been a homemaker in recent years. She is survived by one son, Larry Wayne "Bear" Waugh of Berkeley Springs; three grandchildren, Robert Waugh of Boynton, FL, Ann Beverly Waugh of Hagerstown, MD and Larry w. Waugh, Jr. of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Joan Valentine of Hedgesville, WV; two brothers, William Harrell of Oregon and Robert Harrell of Geneva, NY; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Carroll Waugh on November 7, 1982; her second husband, Leon William Roach on August 17, 1989; two sons, Jimmy Carroll Waugh, Jr. and Gary Lee Waugh and one brother, Donald M. Harrell, Jr. Services and interment will be private. The Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs handled the arrangements.4 |

She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. She is survived by seven daughters: Hattie Didawick, Nannie Michael, Helen Riley, Blanche McCarty, Carrie Michael, all from Berkeley Springs; Viola Michael of Martinsburg, and Emily Miner of Hagerstown; one son, Charles Ed Michael of Berkeley Springs; 19 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 13, from the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home in Berkeley Springs, with the Rev. William Merki officiating. Burial was in the Greenway Cemetery.5 |

He had been in ill health for the past two years. He was born at Berkeley Springs on July 25, 1887, a son of the late C.C. and Sarah Emily Wall Michael. He married the former Miss Pearl Michael, who survives, along with eight children: Ray Michael, Mrs. Naomi Miller, of Winchester; Mrs. Vada Roe of Hagerstown; Willis Michael of Washington, D.C; Loyd Michael of Hamilton; Mrs. Reva Roe, Mrs. Elzada Parish and Mrs. Etta Smith of Gore; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandddaughter and one brother, Charles S. Michael of Berkeley Springs. Mr. Michael was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Evangelical United Brethren Church at Berkeley Springs and of the Gore Volunteer Fire Company. The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Giffin Funeral Home at Capon Bridge followed by interment in Greenway Cemetery at Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Morris Cather and the Rev. Joseph Duckwall officiated.6 |
