For many years, he was a salesman for the McNess Products Company; he was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church of Berkeley Springs; and was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Irene Graham Gray at the home; one daughter, Mrs. Ida Jean Gray Lewis, Berkeley Springs; one son, David R. Gray, Port Huron, Mich; three granddaughters, Pam and Billie Lewis; and Shannon Gray; one brother, Robert Chester Gray, Berkeley Springs; one niece and two nephews. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, February 2 at the Helsley Funeral Home in Berkeley Springs with Father P.H. Stragisher officiating. Interment was in the Greenway Cemetery.1

Surviving in addition to his wife, Eliza Unger, are three brothers, Willard A. Michael and William L. Michael, both of Martinsburg and Berkeley, I. Michael, Hagerstown, Md; three sisters, Ruth Grimm and Mrs. Mary Unger, both of Martinsburg, and Mrs. Priscilla Yeater, Oklahoma. Three brothers preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at the Omps Funeral Home Thursday from 7-9 p.m. where the Junior of the United American Mechanics will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Omps Funeral Home in Winchester by the Rev. Al Clipp. Interment will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery. The VFW of Berkeley Springs will conduct a military graveside service. Pallbearers will be Mark Tobias, Gilbert Tobias, Michael Merchant, Richard Garrett, Howard Lanford.2

Mrs. Mary Jane Rankin, Berkeley Springs, died Saturday evening in the War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, where she had been a patient in the Chronic Ward of the hospital for the past seven years. Mrs. Rankin was born in Morgan County July 13, 1887, a daughter of William and Cordelia Fritzman Rankin.
Surviving are one son, George Leighty, Berkeley Springs; one grandson, Carroll Leighty; two great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Helsley Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, the Rev. Henry Fisher officiating. Interment will be in the Greenway Cemetery.1

George W. Leighty, 74, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, August 19, 1990, in Morgan County War Memorial Hospital. Born April 18, 1916, in Washington County, Md., he was the son of the late Sherman and Mary (Rankin) Leighty. He was a retired employee of the Fairfax County Motor Pool. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.s. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Margie Jane Leighty of Berkeley Springs; one son, Richard C. Leighty of Clearville, Pa; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, August 22, at the Robinsonville Cemetery, near Clearville, with Paul Cantrell officiating. Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.1

George W. "Dish" Rankin, 54, died Tuesday night, January 15, 1946 in Kings Daughters Hospital, Martinsburg, where he had been a patient since December 21, suffering from pneumonia and complications. A veteran of World War I, he was a son of the late William N. and Cordelia Fredman Rankin and had lived all of his life here where he worked in sand quarries for more than 30 years. He never married.
Surviving are one broth, Arthur, and one sister, Miss Mary Rankin, both of this place. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the United Brethren Church with the Rev. C.A. Moon officiating. Members of Alderton-Dawson Post, The American Legion, will act as bearers. Burial will be in Greenway.5

Powell, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Ruth Grimm of Martinsburg; two half sisters, Mary Unger of Martinsburg and Prisilla Yeater of Oklahoma; one brother, Willard A. Michael of Martinsburg; one half brother, William L. Michael of Martinsburg; and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N.
