He retired from Eastern Panhandle Training Center as a Morgan County bus driver and maintenance man. He attended Highland United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs. He was a member of Junior Order Council No. 117 of the American Legion. He is survived by three daughters, Selvia SWAIM of FL, Rose HENDERSHOT of Town Hill, PA, and Edna Mae HIXON of Hancock, MD; a son, Douglas P. MCCOY of Gaithersburg, MD; a sister, Jeffery AMBROSE of High Point, NC; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes P. MCCOY, and a grandson, Teddy SWAIM. A service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs, WV. The Rev. William Swope will officiate. He was born in Morgan county, a son of James and Mary Harden Cain. He was a veteran of World War I and a life-long resident of the Waterview community.
Surviving are-his wife, Jennie, and one son, James B., both at home; a brother Moody Cain; a half-brother, William Cain; and the following sisters: Mrs. Carrie McKenzie, Mrs. Fannie Thompson, Mrs. Edith McCoy, Mrs. Emma Michael, and Mrs. Esther Bennett, all of this place. The body was removed from the Parks Funeral Home today to Highland Church, where services were conducted at 1 o'clock by the Rev. E.C. Day, of Stephens City, Va. Interment was in the church cemetery.9

Earl Bateman officiated. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.6

Jackson, S.C; PFC Glenn R., Camp Lejeune, N.C; two daughters-Mrs. A.R. Montgomery, Baltimore; Mrs. Marshall L. Douglas, Hagerstown, Md; two brothers-William E., and Brent, Berkeley Springs; and three grandchildren. Another son, Lawrence was killed in action in World War II. The body was removed from the Hunter Funeral Home Sunday afternoon and was take to Highland EUB Church for services at 4, conducted by the Rev. H. Middleton Raynal. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bearers were O.B. Weber, P.C. Yost, Henry L. Michael, Carl Weber, Guy Spriggs, and Breathard Rankin.2

Mrs. Alice Virginia Cain, 75 years, 5 months and 15 days, wife of William Z. Cain, died at her home in the Highland community Sunday night, July 18, following an illness of some length, though bedfast only about a week. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Swaim, of this county. Surviving are her husband, two sons, Luther at home and Harley, of the Johnson's Mill community; two sisters, Mrs. Hilson Henry and Mrs. James Myers, Berkeley Springs, and three brothers, James W. Swaim, J. Wesley Swaim and H.B. Swaim, all of the county. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock by the Rev. Charles A. Moon, the pastor. Burial was in the adjacent cemetery.9

The body will be removed from the Helsley Funeral Home today, Thursday, to the Mt. Zion EUB Church, to lie in state one hour prior to services at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Homer Hickle officiating. Interment will be in the Church cemetery.3

She is survived by her husband, Willie (Bill) Pentoney, at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Eileen Starliper, Hyattsville, Md; and Mrs. Adeline Mesner, Berkeley Springs; five sisters, Mrs. Pearl Helsley, Berkeley Springs; Mrs. Cora DeHaven, Martinsburg; Mrs. Vallie Dennis, Leitersburg, Md; Mrs. Genevieve Evans, Hedgesville; Mrs. Blanche Kuntz, Carlisle, Pa; three brothers, George Keesecker, Hedgesville; Theodore and Aaron, both of Hagerstown, Md; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The body is at the Hunter Funeral Home and will be moved Thursday, June 24, 1:00 p.m. to the Trinity UM Church for services at 2:00, conducted by the Rev. Henry Fisher, with burial at Mt Zion Cemetery, Spohr's Cross Roads.6

Funeral services were held at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Spohrs Crossroads, 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 29, with the Rev. Henry Fisher officiating and Arthur Garvin assisting. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.6
