Surviving are seven sons, James, Pasadena, Md; Raymond, Paul and Henry J., all of Berkeley Springs; Vernon, with the U.S. Army in Vietnam; Ralph, Jacksonville, S.C; Home, Martinsburg; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Virginia) VanGosen, Berkeley Springs; one brother, Frank Dodson, Everett; 21 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services were conducted Wednesday, September 23, at the Helsley Funeral Home by the Rev. Thomas W. Jackson. Interment was in the Greenway Cemetery.5 |

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Hunter Funeral Home with the Revs. T.W. Sunderland, of the Methodist Church and Calvin Harden, of Blairton, officiating. Bearers were Harry VanGosen, L.B. Foutz, L. B. Michael, A.B. Dyche, O.E. Widmyer and J.B. Ayers.6 |

Obit | Ercel Summers J.'s obituary was published in the Morgan Messenger on 11 March 1965: Ercel Sumers Johnson, 1, died Sunday shortly after being admitted to war Memorial Hospital. A native of Berkeley Springs, he was a son of the late Charles and Grace (Michael) Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was a veteran of World War II and was employed by the State Road Commission. He was a former employee of the Pennsylvania Glass Sand Corporation and was a member of First Evangelical United Brethren Church. Surviving are his widow, Pearl (Dailey) Johnson; two foster sons, Ralph Everhart and Kenneth Harmon, both at home, and two brothers, Willard Johnson, Berkeley Springs, and Glenn Johnson, Great Cacapon. The body was removed from the Parks-Johnson Funeral Home for services conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Dr. H.H. Rowland, retired Methodist pastor. Burial was in Michael Cemetery.4 |

He is survived by his wife, the former Lola Stotler; six daughters, Mrs. David (Virginia) Bohrer, Silver Spring, Md; Mrs. Victor (Barbara) Michael, Woodbridge, Va; Mrs. Ronald (Peggy) Peck, Mrs. Roger (Carolyn) Stotler, Mrs. Roger (Karen) Whisner, all of Berkeley Springs, and Miss Sherry Johnson, at the home; four sons, Larry, Woodbridge; Glen Ray, Laurel, Md; Richard and Dennis, at the home; and nine grandchildren. Services were conducted at the Helsley Funeral Home Friday, January 19, by the Rev. Calvin Harden, with interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Spohr's Cross Roads, with military graveside rites.2 |
