Mr. Hoover came here in an early day and was for years identified with the growth and business interests of Fulton county having faithfully served the people as County Treasurer for two consecutive terms. Fortune smiled on Mr. Hoover for several years and he became well fixed financially, but his benevolence and liberality were successfully appealed to on every hand and there are but few churches, benevolent institutions or societies in the county which existed during his prosperous days to which he was not a liberal contributor. It is said, and truthfully too, that to his benevolence and philanthropic disposition the extreme poverty in which he died is directly attributable. Deceased was married to Rebecca Blackburn 42 years ago and six children blessed their union, two of whom only and their mother survive. He was a great sufferer for years with rheumatism from which he died. The funeral services was conducted by Rev. Raber yesterday at 3 o'clock and the remains were laid to rest in Odd Fellows cemetery.3 |

(Witness) Obit | He witnessed the Obit of Laura Belle Steinhiser on 9 October 1928 at Rochester Sentinel, Rochester, Fulton, Indiana, Mrs. Laura Belle WAISNER, aged 68, died at four o’clock Monday afternoon at the home of her sister, Miss Della Steinhiser, near Leiters Ford. Death was due to complications of diseases from which she had suffered for the past nine days. The deceased [Laura Belle STEINHISER] was born in Fulton County, February 13, 1860 the daughter of Christopher and Harriett STEINHISER. Upon reaching womanhood she married to Garland HOOVER, who died several years later. On Easter Sunday in 1910 she was married Mr. WAISNER, also deceased. For 15 years she lived in Manchester, Tenn., returning to Leiters Ford just six months ago. For many years she was a member of the Maccabee Lodge but recently had transferred her membership to the Rochester Chapter. Surviving are two children, T. C. HOOVER, of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. J. A. WILSON, of Tipton; four sisters, Miss Della STEINHISER, Mrs. Elizabeth ZELLERS, Mrs. Anna REICHARD and Mrs. Amanda LUCAS. Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Steinhiser home with Rev. H. L. ADAMS in charge. Burial will be made in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Leiters Ford. Monday, July 15 1929 A suit was filed in the circuit court this morning to contest the will of Mrs. Laura Belle WAISNER of Kewanna who died on October 8, 1928. The suit was filed by Mrs. Thadious C. HOOVER of Kokomo and Mrs. Edna WILSON of Kewanna against Mrs. Della STEINHISER of Kewanna executrix of the estate of the deceased. All of the principals in the suit are sisters. The plaintiffs allege that a certain purported will drawn on September 12, 1928 and filed for probate here on October 9, 1928 which will is supposed to be that of their mother which excludes them from sharing in her $7,000 estate is not a true one. The plaintiffs say that the will was obtained from their mother when she was of unsound mind, that it was unduly executed, was executed under duress and that it was obtained by fraud.9 |
