WAGONER, who died Dec. 19, 1972. She was a member of the Reiter Community Club. Surviving are a ssiter, Mrs. Josephine EBERT, San Diego, Calif; nieces; nephews; great-nieces, and great-nephews. A sister, Marquise FOGLESONG, and two brothers, Robert and Harrison PATTON, preceded in death. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Donald PETERS officiating. Burial wil be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until services Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Manitou Training Center or the Peabody Retirement Home.5 |

He had been a patient since Friday and ill seven years. Born Jan. 1, 1900, in Fulton county, he was the son of Fred and Amanda OVERMYER WAGONER. His marriage was April 18, 1925, in Rochester, to Mabel PATTON, who survives. A retired farmer, he had resided his entire life in this area and was a resident of the Reiter community 48 years. He was a past-master and member of the F&AM 79, the RAN 90 of Rochester. He was in his 18th year as a member of the Board of Directors of the REMC. Surviving with his wife are a foster-daughter, Mrs. Jeanne PEHL, Arcadia, Cal; four foster grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth TURNER, Barnsville, O; Mrs. Glen (Margaret) MINGLIN and Miss Esther WAGONER, both of Muncie; five brothers, Clifford, Merrel, Russell, Robert and Frederick [WAGONER], all of Rochester. One brother, three sisters and his parents preceded in death. Final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Foster & Good funeral home. The Rev. George KING will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and on Thursday until the time of service. The F&AM 79 will conduct memorial services at 8 p.m. today. The family has requested that contributions other than flowers be made to the charity of one’s choice.2 |

Obit | Harrison's obituary was published in the Rochester Sentinel on 15 December 1923: Harrison PATTON, 24, formerly a resident of this city and son of the late Mrs. Pearl PATTON, who died in Rochester last winter, died in a hospital at South Bend, Saturday, just before noon from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in that city, Friday evening. Patton, who drives an American Railway Express Company truck, was working at his usual duties Friday evening when his truck was struck by a Ford coupe driven by A. E. SWEENY, of South Bend, in such a manner as to throw Patton onto the pavement. He alighted on his head and sustained injuries about the back of the head and his neck, which rendered him unconscious. He was rushed to a hospital, but died Saturday morning without having regained consciousness. Word of the accident was received in Rochester by his sister, Miss Mabel PATTON, an employe of the Van Trump Company. Harrison Patton was born in Fulton county, December 12, 1899. He went to school in Rochester, graduating from the grade schools and later joined the army, serving during the World War during which time he spent 11 months overseas. He was a member of the 62nd Indian Infantry. Upon his discharge from the army he moved to South Bend where he had been employed and where in 1922 he was married to Miss Ruby GIEST, of that city. Surviving are the widow; three sisters, Miss Mabel PATTON, Miss Josephine PATTON, Chicago, and Mrs. Fred FOGLESONG, Chicago, and one brother, Robert PATTON, a student in the Rochester high school. Few details regarding the accident and disposition of the body were available here Saturday. It was expected that the body will be brought to Rochester for burial, although funeral arrangements have not yet been made. The man responsible for the accident has made no statement and it is not known whether he will be held responsible for the death of the former Rochester boy. Miss Mabel [PATTON] and Robert PATTON and Theodore JOHNSON, of this city, went to South Bend where they attended the funeral services at the A. M. Russel chapel at two o’clock Monday afternoon for Harrison PATTON, who died as the result of an automobile accident last Saturday. Burial was made in the Riverview cemetery.2 |

Obit | Harry T.'s obituary was published in the Pontiac Daily Leader on 4 March 1967: Harry T. Wagner, 84, Humiston Haven, died at 10:45 p.m. Friday at St. James Hospital. He had been in failing health for some time and seriously ill 10 days. His funeral will be Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Raleigh J. Harris Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Sheldon of the McDowell Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Houder Cemetery. Paullbearers wll be Virgil Pflager, Richard Eacret, Vincent Ruddy, Marshall Vitzthum, Roger Harding and James Myers. Mr. Wagner was born Jan. 5 1883 at Pontiac, a son of Eldred A. and Emma (Green) Wagner. He was educated in rural schools and farmed in the McDowell area until 1961 when he retired and moved to Pontiac to Humiston Haven. He was married to Grace Westervelt on Dec. 14, 1905. She died Dec. 20, 1949. He was a member of the McDowell Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Popp, Pontiac route 2, and Mrs. Maxine Ertmoed, Clinton, a sister, Miss Edith Wagner, Humiston Haven, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Kipfer and Mrs. Rowena Nicolson.9 |

Obit | Marjorie L.'s obituary was published in the Daily Leader (Pontiac) on 20 August 2009: Marjorie L. Popp, 92, of Pontiac, died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at Evenglow Lodge's Tjardes Health Center, Pontiac. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McDowell Methodist Church, the Revs. Donna Baker and Gretchen Stinebaugh officiating. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery, Pontiac. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac. She was born Dec. 6, 1916, at McDowell, the daughter of Harry and Grace (Westervelt) Wagner. She married Anton "Sam" Popp March 14, 1936, at Pontiac. He preceded her in death Feb. 6, 1995. Surviving are one son, Roger (Marsha) Popp, Effingham; one daughter, Barb Drach, Pontiac; 12 granchildren, Dave (Sheila) Popp, Donna (J.R.) Head, Dale Popp, Diane (Brad) Schwahn, Tony (Joy) Drach, Tammy (Victor IV) Johns, Julie (Andy) Bartlow, Amy (Mike) Schweitzer, Steve (Tammy) Popp, Jodee (Paul) Ritter, Gina (John) Mathesius and Jill (Larry) Adams; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Popp was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ron Popp; one daughter-in-law, Anna Mae Popp; one son-in-law, Art Drach; one granddaughter, Sheri Lynn Popp; and three sisters, Rowena Nicholoson, Hazel Kipfer and Maxine Ertmoed. Marge was a graduate of McDowell Grade School and Pontiac Township High School. She and her husband, Sam, farmed their entire life at rural Pontiac. After rearing her children, Marge also worked at the Pontiac National Bank for many years. She was a lifetime member of the McDowell Methodist Church. Marge was a much loved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She always had a kind word and a smile, and was there to help and support her friends and family in good times and bad. She loved gardening, baking cookies, playing Scrabble, and above all else, her family.4 |
