Obit | Emma D.'s obituary was published in the The Western Star on 24 October 1935: Death Claims Wife of Local Orchardist. Mrs. Emma Donaldson Curtis, 68, wife of George W. Curtis, well known orchardist, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at her home northwest of Mt. Vernon. She had been in poor health for the past two years and a heart attack in mid-afternoon proved fatal.
The deceased was twice married. Her first husband was Marshal Alexander. A son Holbert, born to that union, died several years ago. The near surviving relatives are the husband; two sons, Carl and Harley Curtis, the latter an employee of the Tank Car Oil Co. in Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Vera, and four grandchildren. Funeral services are to be held this afternoon at Bethesda church at Savah, of which she had been a devout member for many years. The rites are to be in charge of the Rev. J.R. Edwards of Owensville, a former pastor. Interment will be in the Bellefontaine cemetery.3 |
