Obit | Arthur G.'s obituary was published in the The Western Star on 26 April 1945: Arthur E. Redman, retired Mt. Vernon businessman, died of a heart attack at 9:15 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Wellborn Memorial Baptist Hospital in Evansville. He had been in failing health for two years and seriously ill for four weeks. He observed his seventy-third birthday Tuesday. Mr. Redman was a native and a life-long resident of Posey County, the son of William and Ruth Kitchell Redman, both members of prominent early Posey county families. He had resided at Fourth and Locust streets for many years and for about 20 years operated a service station there. Failing health forced his retirement about two years ago. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Weisinger funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Bellefontaine cemetery. Nearest surviving relatives are the wife, nee Emma Curtis; a son, Alvis Redman of Detroit, Mich; two daughters, Mrs. William P. Miller and Mrs. Ross Benner of Mt. Vernon; four brothers Edward, Taylor and Lester Redman.7 |

Obit | George's obituary was published in the Courier & Press on 5 May 1927: Mt. Vernon, May 4. George Shantill, 29, a sailor of the U.S. Navy, who died Tuesday in the hospital at the Great Lakes Naval Station, will be buried from St. Matthews's Church here Thursday morning at 9 o'clock. Shantill's second term of three years in the Navy expired last August, but on account of his illness he was not discharged. For six months he was a patient a the Marine Hospitl in Evansville, for seven months in the naval hospital at Norfolk, Va., and for the last two weeks he has been at the Great Lakes station. Tuberculosis was the cause of his death. A sister, Mrs. Thomas E. Smith, of Evansville, was at his bedside when death came. Other relatives are a sister, Mrs. George Williams of Evansville, and a brother, Gus Shantill of this city.5 |
