O.W. Bud Dodd, 86, of Athens, passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center. A native of Hamilton County and longtime resident of McMinn County, he was a retired employee of Athens Stove Works where he had been employed for 50 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II where he was stationed in the Philippines. A son of the late William and Carrie Reeps Dodd, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Joy Curtis Dodd; two sons, Joseph E. Gene Dodd and Robert Darrell Dodd; one brother, Robert Dodd; and two sisters, Edna Caylor and Edith Norris. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Shelby Dodd of Athens and Carolyn Dodd of Athens; seven grandchildren, Valerie Waldrop, Joey Dodd, Kenny Dodd, Rodney Dodd, Sandra Carr, Charlie Dodd and Elizabeth Dodd; nine great-grandchildren; one expected great-great-grandchild; two brothers, R.B. Dodd of Chattanooga and J.C. Dodd of Cleveland; and two sisters, Dema Shoemaker of Cleveland and Barbara Burns of Cleveland.

Odetta Stone Curtis, 82, of Etowah, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah. A native of Polk County and resident of McMinn County for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Carrie White Stone and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She was a nurse’s aide at Woods Memorial Hospital for several years and was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Curtis; one daughter, Linda Sue Curtis, and one granddaughter, Vickie Curtis.
Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law, Carrie Lee Presley, Eva and Jack Blevins and Mary Newman, all of Etowah, six sons and daughters-in-law, William R. “Bill” and Sallie Curtis of Etowah, James and Wanda Curtis of Athens, Charles and Reba Curtis of Etowah, Scott and Trina Curtis of Philadelphia, Dr. Harold and Irene Curtis of Etowah and Jerry and Ellen Curtis of Bitely, Mich; 22 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth Scoggins of Blacksbury, S.C. Funeral services were 8 p.m. Sunday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Crockett and the Rev. Wayne Fritts officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday in McMinn Memory Gardens with grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers.¹

Donald C. Robinson, 81, of Englewood, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Woods Memorial Hospital. A native of Vonore in Monroe County, he was a resident of McMinn County for most of his life. He was employed with TVA as a special equipment operator and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. A son of the late Robert N. and Pearl Jane Lemings Robinson, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Paul Robinson; and one sister, Helen McConnell.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerry and Marcia Robinson of Etowah and Alan Robinson of Englewood; one brother and sister-in-law, Guss and Iva Robinson of Athens; one sister, Glenda Sue Carpenter of Belle Flower, Calif; two stepsons, Gene Burke of Athens and Freddie Malone of Niota; five stepdaughters, Wanda Womac, Deloris Mahoney, both of Athens, Darlene Simpson, Donna Devine and Debbie Malone, all of Etowah; a special friend, Janie Puckett of Etowah; and several nieces and nephews.
