Born in Fulton County to Clyde and Grace GUISE GARNER, he married Vernell MORELAND in 1944. She died in 1978. He married Ruby DAMPIER June 18, 1988. She survives. Mr. Garner was a professor emeritus of engineering management at the University of Missouri, Rolla, where he taught economics and other business related courses for 37 years. He received his bachelor of science degree in business administration from Indiana University in 1941. He earned his master’s degree from Washington University in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Rolla, Mo., where he was a deacon. He was a member of the Rolla, Mo., Kiwanis Club. Surviving with his wife, at home, are one son, Alan [GARNER] and wife Susan, Kansas City, Mo; one grandson, Andrew GARNER; one sister, Alice HOUSE, Council Bluffs, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, including Tom GARNER, Kewanna. Preceding in death with his first wife were his parents and three brothers, Burdette, Chester and Richard GARNER. Services were April 21 at First Baptist Church, Rolla, Mo. Burial was at Ozark Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rolla, Mo. Null & Son Funeral Home, Rolla, Mo., was in charge of arrangements.⁴

Born in Leiter Ford to Clyde and Grace GUISE GARNER, he mrried Opal I. CRABB on March 16, 1941 at the First Baptist Church of Kewanna. A 1934 graduate of Kewanna High School he was a retired farmer and auctioneer, and a member of the Indiana Auctioneer’s Association. A member of the Kewanna First Baptist Church he liked to sing and was chorus leader at the church. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Thomas [GARNER], Kewanna, a daughter, Vicky SCANTLEN, Milford, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Alice HOUSE, Kewanna, and a brother, Leonard GARNER, Rolla, Mo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Harrison-Metzger Kewanna Chapel with Dr. Douglas A. BLANC, Sr., officiating. Burial will be at Citizens I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Kewanna. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and after 9 a.m. Suday until the time of services at the funeral home.⁵

Leslie C. HOUSE, 68, Kewanna, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Veterans Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born Dec. 9, 1915 in Shandon, Ohio to George and Lillian KELL HOUSE. On Nov. 23, 1941 in Kewanna, he was married to Alice GARNER who survives. He was a retired crpenter and a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Rochester United Pentecostal Church and was a lifetime member of the Kewanna VFW and the National Muzzleloading Association in Friendschip, Ind. Surviving with the wife are a son, Gary C. [HOUSE], South Bend, and a brother, Dean [HOUSE], Elkhart. A sister preceded in death. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home in Kewanna with the Rev. Paul M. CECRLE officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted at the Kewanna I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and on Friday from 7:30 a.m. until time of services.⁵

Harley R.'s obituary was published in the Rochester Sentinel on 18 April 1955:

Harley Ray GARNER, 67, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday at his home, 300 East Walnut street, Argos. Death was due to a heart seizure which followed a stroke suffered a week ago. All his married life had been lived in Argos, Mr. Garner coming there from the Burton community. He was born June 7, 1887, near Athens to William and Adella GARNER. On Feb. 21, 1906, he was married to Ocie SWIHART at Plymouth. For the past 25 years he operated truck-tank line in Marshall county. Mr. Garner was a member of the Church of the Brethren of Walnut and also attended the Assembly of God Church of Plymouth. He was a member of the Lions Club of Argos.
Survivors are his wife, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel IRWIN, R.R. 3, Argos and Mrs. Hazel WINTERROWD, R.R. 2, Rochester; two sons, Merrit [GARNER], Argos, and Jack [GARNER], Lapaz; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Gertie KENNELL, and Mrs. Gladys CASTLEMAN, both of Rochester, and Mrs. Goldie ZANHIZER, Oceanside, Cal., and a brother, Clyde [GARNER], Kewanna. final rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Grossman funeral home, Argos. The Revs. William VanWINKLE of Plymouth and Roy RICHEY of Walnut will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove cemetery, Argos. Friends may call at the funeral home.²
